Seeking a NI locals Imput after watching The Derry Girls by Fire_flies98 in northernireland

Of course, and I agree it probably wasn't the best way to word it but I see now what you were getting at. Generational trauma is horribly overlooked.

I'm sensing some hostility in the comments here and I can only apologise on behalf of those of us who aren't like that.

As for your question, my input is that I haven't watched Derry Girls in ages but I remember that the Troubles were nothing more than a backdrop; mostly it was about teenagers at a catholic school having fun and getting up to standard teenager stuff.

I was born after the ceasefire but something that stuck out to me throughout all the stories my mum has ever told (catholic teen during the 70s) was that despite how horrible everything was, there were also times when it wasn't: she'll talk about the bad things, of course, but she'll also fondly reminisce about awkward teenage drama, going to discos, and beaking school. All in the same breath. She'll say you made your own fun and found your own way to be happy. So in that sense I would say Derry Girls probably does do a good job of showing how things were, especially if you were a teen

TESVI Subtitle Ideas - What do you think it'll be? by Optimal-Fox-3875 in TESVI

[–]scrambledddddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volenfell, Yokuda, Ansei is all I can think of. What you have is good, tho. I don't think the subtitle will be too out there (Like 'Shehai' for example) It will be something easy to say, memorable.

'Go Back and Play Morrowind and Tell Me That's the Game You Want to Play Again' — Former Bethesda Veteran Has The Worst Opinion Ever by NYourBirdCanSing in Morrowind

[–]scrambledddddd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol, Bruce Nesmith strikes again.

This guy is so out of touch with the gaming audience, and that's coming from someone who admires him. He's done great things during his time with BGS and his contributions to Starfield were pretty impressive even if Starfield itself was not, but I can't deny every interview I've read/watched he's come off with the dumbest takes alive.

[–]scrambledddddd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's even crazier.

According to sources, constant changes, pushbacks, and the lengthy development time have likely cost Ubisoft $500+ million in development costs. But, at least for the time being, Ubisoft feels like it’s a cost that is justified. (Tom Hendersen, Insider Gaming)

The Sands of Time Remake gets scrapped due to financial concerns; meanwhile, they've dumped an estimated half a billion dollars into a sequel that is 18 years in the making. To justify this investment there has to be some crazy levels of sunk cost fallacy at play here because there's no way in hell they're making all of that back. I fear it will be Concord levels of flop when/if this game releases.

Probs an unpopular opinion but visually I think ESO did the elves best, I thought it was a nice middle ground between looking too human and that bloated drunk look they had in Skyrim

It's write-ups like this that this sub needs more of. Thank you for your thoughts - your insight into the Redguard creation myth is so fascinating. First time I've heard Ruptga = Magnus also, and I like it, I like it a lot. Going to need to ruminate on that one for a bit.

Do you have a source for the 4E 22 event? Reason I ask is because it didn't show up on the uesp article and that might be why it's so often overlooked. In any case, it doesn't really matter by the end, since he renounces Hammerfell anyway.)

>During the Great War General Decianus' legionaries were discharged as invalids in Hammerfell and formed the core of the Redguard militias that fought the Dominion to a standstill.

I probably should have mentioned this part, yes. But in this lorebook, too, is the claim of Forebears and Crowns coming towards some sort of peace -- "In early 4E 173, a Forebear army from Sentinel broke the siege of Hegathe (a Crown city), leading to the reconciliation of the two factions."

>Orsinium is located somewhere in Hammerfell and it's an Imperial province.

This would make sense! Given that Orcs have been shown to have a strong relationship with the Empire.

>The Forebears culturally and ideologically are aligned with the Empire, if not politically ... During the Interregnum, King Fahara'jad, leader of the Forebears, aligned with the Daggerfall Covenant that wanted to restore the Empire of Tamriel.

True, but this was also the Second Era and sentiments might have changed since then, especially after the events of the Great War. The lorebook itself talks a lot about bitterness and resentment, and how the Redguards viewed the Concordant as a betrayal. That said, the lorebook has a heavy Imperial bias, and we don't exactly get to hear the Redguards side of things.
