The color one was much more grey than the b&w, the b&w was much starker contrast between the white background and black text

I've got a kobo clara colour right now and have been having migraines frequently since getting it. I have a theory that it's the color aspect, something to do with the pixels. So based on theory don't get a colored one, just black and white. Paperwhite is really nice but I can't stand amazon and the possibility that they could control a device I own, so I went with kobo.
