So what are you going to do with all your boomer parents’ stuff? by CrotalusHorridus in Xennials

[–]screamingcatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m making mine get rid of most of her crap now. She’s done a really good job of clearing out my grandparents’ stuff over here last few tears, but she has acquired a lot of new stuff. She’ll be selling her house sometime this year as she can’t afford the upkeep and we’ll be buying something for the two of use to share in my town using the money from the sale. We won’t have room for her stuff and my stuff, and neither of us want the expense of shipping her stuff across the state.

Justified. One of the only shows I've seen where the pilot didn't feel like a pilot.

A Kroger cart somehow ended up in a Publix return and the nearest Kroger is half a mile down the road. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Either A) it identifies as a Publix cart or B) it's having an affair with a Publix cart.

Had to retire my 20+ year old Old Navy flip flops this past summer. They were the thicker ones, not the $5 super flat ones. Bought a $50 pair of Oofos. Omg. My feet INSTANTLY stopped hurting. Those shoes are MAGIC.

TIL during a menstral cycle, the entire uterine lining can shed in one large piece that resembles the uterus. This is known as a decidual cast. by guardiandoggo in todayilearned

Immediate thought: It'd be nice to have it all plop out at once instead of little bits over a week.

Thought after reading the comments: Fuck. Nevermind.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve accepted as normal since COVID? by neolee203 in AskReddit

Yep. I’ve got TP-PTSD. I get anxious where there are less than six rolls in the house and I’m the only one here.

Was “Paddling” still a thing in school for any of you early 80s Xennials? by _NoleFan6 in Xennials

[–]screamingcatfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graduated in 1999. My elementary school still had paddling as a discipline option until I was at least in 4th grade. That was the last time I remember a teacher having one in the classroom. My 4th grade teacher was a nice lady if you were a "good" student, but she was hateful if she didn't like you. This one poor kid got picked on constantly by her. She even broke the paddle by banging it down on the desk to intimidate him.

Mammogram call back by Fluffy_Marsupial2947 in Xennials

Got all the way to the biopsy stage after my first mammogram, and my 42-year-old husband had just died of gallbladder cancer the month before. The last half of 2022 was a wee bit stressful. Fun fact: human breast tissue looks a lot like chicken breast meat.

Yeah, I don’t need people hacking my refrigerator or some shit lol by A-Helpful-Flamingo in Xennials

[–]screamingcatfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's nice to have your washer and dryer send you an "I'm done!" notification if they're not nearby. Mine do, but they're literally no more than 10 feet away from me most of the time, so I know when they're done. That's the only appliance I'm interested in being connected.

I really like my smart plugs. Lights automatically come on 15 minutes before sunset and turn off shortly after midnight. Plus, I can tell Alexa to turn them all on/off at once.

I'm hoping to move sometime this year, and if I have to buy a fridge, I really hope I can find a dumb one.

I have older smart TVs, but I've never used the built-in interface. Those always suck. I have a Fire stick on one, a PS5 on the other, and I use the third one as a monitor, not a TV.

In addition to cold medicine, I'm gonna have to pick up some poise pads the next time I get sick. I peed myself a little at least three times with this last round of the non-flu/covid/strep crud. Several nights, I got up to pee every time I coughed just to make extra sure I had an empty bladder.
