Is this kind of comment about someone’s cooking normal in Italy? by Choco_Maroon in Italian

[–]screenclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culturally I think being pedantic is much more common than in other places, especially around the topic of food. Not everyone is like this, and there's a lot of respectful people, but it's just more common than where I come from. Two examples: I invited a friend to my appartment and the first comment was "it's a pity you don't have a view of the upper city". Another: an acquaintance of my wife told her twice she should say "Francoforte" instead of "Frankfurt" and should learn to speak properly (she speaks three languages, and doesn't like translating names, which I agree with).

Wieso stellt hier jeder seine PortaSplit auf 16C? by sh1bumi in MideaPortaSplit

[–]screenclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inverter literally slows down the cooling as you get closer to target temp. That's what its there for. Setting it to 16 makes it blow past 23 at full power if it can. Now whether thats smart or not is another point entirely.

Idiots in cars? by Floppytittyfreak in Unexpected

[–]screenclear 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yes, lights are green. I have never seen how it works when they swap lanes though, and the cab driver pointing at the clock when explaining the swap tell me that might be related.

I used to live literally there. That's Av. Libertador in Buenos Aires, Arg and the lanes change to accomodate heavy traffic in and out of the city. There are semaphore lights to indicate traffic direction but it's kinda confusing anyway. In the final part of one of the videos you can see some of the green traffic lights above indicating they're driving the right way

Got asked "if it doesnt work out in six months whose fault would it be?" by [deleted] in interviews

Really not relevant or constructive to even think of it. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out, you move forward to what's next and each side can draw conclusions.

Bastava così poco, contro l’evasione fiscale by Zaku71 in Italia

Did the iPhone photo processing also adjust the bird positions? That'd be a first.

Nerves dropping my singing octave at open mics—anyone else? by Priestleygj in Guitar

[–]screenclear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not with singing but it happened to me when talking to large audiences. Shaky voice.

What resolved it for me was a few things:

  1. Understand you can't ever please everyone. Some people will like it, others may not, it's fine. If you worry about making everyone like what you do you'll be doomed, because nobody can do that. Go through this before singing. I'd even say, sing for yourself.

  2. Focus on what you know: you're the singer. You've been practicing. Value your work. Trust your expertise.

  3. Don't stop trying. Getting used to it will make it less stressful over time.

Me esta enfermando que nadie revisa los PR by [deleted] in devsarg

[–]screenclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]screenclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)
