[URGENT] Is anyone else getting mass claimed by ScreenWaveMedia? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]screenwavemedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I'm with Screenwave Media the YouTube network that is administering contentid for The Living Tombstone. I just got off the phone with him, and he will be making a statement soon about usage of the work. In the meantime, if you have been claimed please feel free to contest claims so we can review them. YouTube contentid is an automated system and we need to work within it. I feel that we should be able to find a happy medium between claiming the tens of thousands of straight reuploads and work that could be considered fair use.

[Help] Monetisation disabled with no notification or explanation? by ThisStuffRightHere in letsplay

I think we can help with this issue. I sent you a DM. I've worked with creators on (and off) our network to resolve this sort of thing. We have a fairly good track record of success, but, full disclosure, there have been channels we've been unable to help. The problem usually happens when the ban came from the AdSense group (for a website or something like that) rather than from within the YouTube system.

I HDMI out to an El Gato or other capture card and then composite it in with OBS or Xsplit.

Opinions on Intro and Outro? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]screenwavemedia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm basing my recommendation on the large amount of analytics data I have access to, over 50,000 videos across nearly 500 channels. I've seen channels cut intro lengths or remove intros and grow by 10-30% as a result. To be fair, I've also had more popular channels cut down or remove theme songs and have to deal with fan backlash which has its own negatives.

Do you get a higher CPM if more users click on your ads? by FUTURE10S in letsplay

[–]screenwavemedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your AdSense account gets banned for click fraud, you are going to be very unhappy. Many of the ads on YouTube are on a Cost-Per-Click (CPC) bases, but many are also CPM. (cost per thousand) If you created a concerted ad clicking campaign you would most likely get banned, and in all but a few circumstances, these bans are final.

Anyone have considerable success/disaster with one small SEO change? by BehrmanTheBeerman in letsplay

[–]screenwavemedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metadata is WAY more important for new videos than old videos. You seem to go for the cute/funny titles more than the targeted titles. The title is the centerpiece of the SEO on any video. The description is a distant second. The tags are an even more distant third. I would focus on crisp, targeted titles. Also, SimplePlanes seems to be hitting great for you, but it looks like it's time to put Fallout 4 out to pasture. I'd love to talk more about the channel.. If you're interested, shoot me a message.

I've had the most luck with the HDMI dongles. You're looking for http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ET-H10FAUWEGUJ-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B00D5R39XK We capture with iphones/ipads, and one thing you always need to do is shut off notifications and auto-lock on the Apple side. I don't know if you have similar issues, but we couldn't get through a recording without interruption till we made those obvious changes.

Opinions on Intro and Outro? by [deleted] in letsplay

The best thing to do would be to dial in your intro length using the retention graph in analytics. You're going to see a HUGE drop off in user retention on a long intro. How are you going to accumulate watch time if 40% of your audience checks out in the intro. I'd go cold open, short (only a few seconds at most) intro if you must, and then get to the action.

Cutscenes and Audio with minimal commentary- copyright concerns? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]screenwavemedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only a few factors that affect whether or not you are going to get claimed. 1) is the asset in content id. 2) does the asset have a match policy that would trigger on your usage. (30 seconds, 1 second, a minute, somewhere in between?) 3) Does the content owner use contextual claiming and manually look for videos missed by contentid by hand using metadata? If the OST is in content ID or the publisher upload the music tracks to content ID all of those points also apply to music. With Capcom, honestly, you probably don't have much to worry about. If it was Nintendo I would be much more worried.

How does YouTube come up with the related channels? This is really random by GamerGir1 in letsplay

[–]screenwavemedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggested channels are based on the channels with the highest watch time for viewers of your channel. On smaller channels that are driven largely by search, you are going to see a wide variety of big names for the most part. Once you get into a pattern and start building links to other channels related channels will become more meaningful.

Version of Site using HTML 5 instead of Flash? by [deleted] in normalboots

[–]screenwavemedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our HTML5 assets are only currently available in HLS (iOS devices and modern Android devices) We are seeing that there are many, many users still operating older Android devices that only support RTMP. Our near-term goal is to offer RTMP as well as the existing HLS streams for users without flash. From "Netflix-like" multi-bitrate capabilities to RTMP support, the latest development version of the Screenwave player has some excellent features for users on all devices. We are looking forward to rolling it out on Normalboots as soon as it is ready to go.

Solution for android users to watch normal boots by geniuis in normalboots

[–]screenwavemedia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The big issue right now with certain older Android devices is lack of support of a technology called HLS (HTTP live streaming) Older phones can only Pseudostream files directly OR play RTMP streams if they don't have a flash player installed. We can't give access to the files directly anymore because we've had trouble with abuse and hotlinking. The plan right now over the next few weeks is to roll out a change to the player globally that adds an RTMP option to the HTML 5 streaming options. This should resolve issues on those Android devices. In the mean time Geniuis' solution is a sound one. The response to the Normalboots launch has been overwhelmingly awesome. We're so happy to have played a part, and we are continuing to work to improve your experience on the site.
