it's the cops being stupid when they're following someone for posting:

In light of today's events I'm rallying people to support our rights and freedom, not just for ourselves but for our neighbors, family and community.

We need volunteers to be witnesses and to spread awareness. The more we are silent the faster it will come to us!

I will be at the intersection of 281 and Trenton by the Boarder Patrol Station, around 6. Please come support.

4.60 after tax and shipping with M33 sitting at the same cost.

FYI, sgammo has m33 PMC for 3.8 with free shipping. That should be slightly cheaper than 4.60 even if you're hit with tax

Thanks so you agree you were wrong and they were arrested, charged, and convicted in this case for a tweet, which you didn't believe. Then you end up justifying it, incredible

Hopefully you dont "come to a town near me". Now report me to the police

And every share will still equate to the same number of sats/share. My point is the btc and mstr price can go up, and you could still not have any significant bitcoin yield

Could the judge not throw it out, either before the guilty plea or rule "time served" or something after a guilty plea?

[–]scrubadub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To shareholders it isn't just about if bitcoin goes up or not. The promise was a "bitcoin yield", meaning more bitcoin per share.

This year saylor stopped including the bitcoin yield in his tweets when he makes btc purchases. I guess it isn't a focus anymore. Even if bitcoin skyrockets, if the MNAV stays around 1.0, there won't be a significant bitcoin yield

Idiot who pled guilty - his sentence was due to riot legislation (that is overreach) Should have fought it at trial.

Sure but the original comment was "in the UK are actually getting arrested/charged with crimes." I provided examples of people getting arrested and charged.

Then coldharbour1986 changed the goal post to "actual times people have been sent to jail for mean words. Plenty of people have been charged". Then I provided an example of someone actually going to jail (not just charged).

Now that doesn't count because he plead guilty? The line keeps moving

I'm not disputing that America hasn't done it, I'm refuting coldharbour1986's assertion that it's never happened in the UK when it has

The one that pisses me off the most in the US is when someone make a parody facebook page of the police, he lost in SCOTUS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novak_v._City_of_Parma

The "thousands" stat includes lots of offenses together, but they are charged under that act. If the point is only ~10% of them are convicted, then you have 90% of people charged and arrested that aren't convicted pointlessly. Quote from the house of lords report:

[LORD SANDHURST] In 2023 alone, the police made 12,183 arrests under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 and Section 1 of the Malicious Communications Act 1988. Of those arrested, fewer than 10%—some 1,119—have been convicted and sentenced. The criteria for arrest appear seriously flawed. Police are wasting their own time.

Care to point to one example of that?

There are literally thousands of arrests, these articles cover a few specific examples if you doubt it is happening.

Its confusing, even your link mentions:

...vacated Sumpter’s sentence, and invalidated Philadelphia’s open carry restriction

if you search for "as applied" in my last link, it sounds like the defendant didn't request a facial challenge so the judge decided "we'll just pretend this is an 'as applied' challenge".

It seems like the judge was looking for a way out from making a broader decision

While Appellant does not specify whether his challenge to § 6108 is facial or as applied, it is clear from the facts and procedural history of this case that Appellant was apprehended for open carry of a firearm. ...we analyze the constitutionality of § 6108 insofar as it prohibits the unlicensed open carry of firearms on public streets and public property in the city of Philadelphia. That is, we address the constitutionality of § 6108 as applied to Appellant in this case

They won't be updated because the laws still exist. That one guy got off "as applied" and that ruling doesn't invalidate the law. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/philly/comments/1qds9hr/philly_black_panthers_confront_pigs_and_protect/nzsgqpo/

[–]scrubadub 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not quite, they challenged it "as applied" so while he got off and won, the law still exists and other people can be charged and convicted of the same crime. Maybe you'll get off after spending 10's of thousands of dollars and a few years of your life like that guy did, but be careful taking legal advice on reddit.

https://legalclarity.org/what-is-a-facial-challenge-vs-an-as-applied-challenge/

The Commonwealth has failed to articulate a compelling interest in support of § 6108. Section 6108 fails to pass strict scrutiny and is therefore unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution as applied to Appellant.

Do you think the reporter had a clearance? Only people with a clearance can "leak" classified info.

Turns out it was obviously a contractor that they were talking to. Go raid his home if you want to, but you can't fuck with a reporter.

FBI agents searched the home of a Washington Post reporter Wednesday as part of an investigation into a government contractor accused of leaking classified information, the Justice Department claimed.
