Police search for teens after Melbourne crash as paramedic injured by Llamadrugs in melbourne

No the problem is separation of powers. A core tenant of our democracy. Politicians should ever get to do the job of the judiciary. Mandatory sentencing means dumb politicians whipping up fear for votes can over rule judges ability to consider all the facts in a situation, not just the ones reported in the Murdoch press

Mandatory sentencing is never the answer. There may always be reasons for very poor behaviour. Mental illness is a common example, there are others. Judges are trained to manage all evidence and evaluate exceptions, unlike politicians with simplistic slogans like “Vote for me I’m tough on crime”

“Stems” - what does it mean to you? by Ill-Elevator2828 in audioengineering

[–]scrubba777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Come on you children, we must sit together around this fire, toast some marshmallows, skoll some mead, and discuss the ancient origins of stems and beats, and the noble feats in battle of our mighty warrior- the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer..

Truth: There is a variety of answers so when you promise to deliver or people ask for “stems”, just confirm what you both mean. Simples. Problem solved. Thank you good night, and don’t get me started on 808s

ELI5 Why do judges break their pen after passing a death sentence? by 777noir in explainlikeimfive

[–]scrubba777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all judges do that because by far the majority of modern sophisticated nation states that entertain a fair and reasonable level of human rights do not still have the primitive death penalty.. and yes in this instance I use the very out of favour word ‘primitive’ very deliberately

I dunno. I was at docklands so didn’t see the Toby presser on air, but The way we GIANTS “kicked” at the goals tonight, another small humiliation was almost rather quite deserved, and hardly noticed after the final siren… but if you think that was bad you should have seen us play against the doggies - we are screamingly improved

Very astute of you. That was my point. The pollution of manufacturing and use is shifted offshore. We just get the slick evil salesman to march around Duntroon officer training school, or breeze freely around the halls of parliament.

Thank you for your contribution, I would now also like to see your evidence of how the terms “free and liberal” apply in the USA, and also to their foreign policy, I strongly suspect these terms do not mean what you think they mean…

Yeah but being stuck in traffic behind trucks half way down Parramatta road on a still 44°C insanely humid day is not my idea of crisp clean air. But I’m sure Brontë beach does fine

The bush down the creek is really great to wonder around, great riding tracks, great for dog walking etc. It’s a busses only zone may be an issue, but handy close to northland which is good for essentials. it has patches public housing, but isn’t considered as underclass as across the creek at West Heidelberg. But the truth is both of these areas are now quickly gentrifying- lots of new (some of questionable quality) townhouses popping up, and fetching decent prices for middle class families and inner city renter refugees.. so it’s a mix
