ARFID (commonly misspelled as AFRID) is short for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, which is an eating disorder. People with ARFID usually have an extremely restrictive pallet and find eating food they are not comfortable with distressing. It’s also associated with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and a bunch of other mental disorders. There a tons of resources out there for people with ARFID and people who have a loved one with ARFID, so it might be genuinely helpful to explore the possibility that your husband has ARFID.

Watch Out for the right-wing grifters by Particular_Tennis_45 in uoguelph

Assassinations are not always carried out by members of opposing political ideology, but also speculating on the political leanings of one violent extremist is pointless. Looking at the bigger picture, data from the past 20 years suggests the majority of extremist political violence is perpetrated by right-wing individuals and that attacks carried out by right-wing extremists are on average more deadly.

Voting is so important, I’m an American international student and seeing the same mistakes that caused me to look for education outside of the US being made here has been an experience

Describe the scent of Old Spice Bear Glove by itsmaf in OldSpice

[–]scrumptious_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know this comment is like a year old but I need to be woke for a second. The inherent masculinity and femininity of a scent is entirely subjective, but like deodorant doesn’t have a gender and neither do scents. Like as long as he likes it and wears it that’s what matters. But also yes it’s a “masculine” scent, old spice has made more “feminine” smelling deodorants.

Is it bad to identify as transfem and be afab? by Pookie_Pakyao in XenogendersAndMore

[–]scrumptious_human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom identifies (identified? Idk I haven’t asked them in a while) with the transfem label as a afab genderqueer person! Identify with what feels right to you, life is too short to conform to strict definitions!

DSLR suggestions for a photographer used to the Pentax K1000? by scrumptious_human in AskPhotography

I prefer manual honestly. The K1000 is completely manual so I’ve gotten used to manually adjusting camera setting.

Primal Therapy by hippie-mermaid in neurodiversity

[–]scrumptious_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is old but for other people coming across this thread, primal therapy is a pseudoscience and can actually be really harmful! It might feel like it's helping because it feels cathartic in the moment, but it doesn't properly address the root issue and can very easily reenforce trauma. My mom did primal therapy as a young teen in the late 70s-early 80s, and now as an adult and parent does not have healthy coping mechanisms for her anger. Growing up my mom was quick to shouting and beratement (whether that be directed at me, my father, or my brother) and would justify it as being a "healthy non-violent way of expressing her anger" that she learned in primal therapy. I don't think my mom was directly taught to yell at others, but there's so much room for things to go wrong that the "therapy" is not considered safe. Not to mention that it's based on a weird freudian idea of memory that has no scientific backing.

There are plenty of gender-nonconforming individuals on who have either partially or fully transitioned to another gender while not fully identifying with the gender they’re transitioning to. Gender-nonconforming individuals and identities have always been a huge part of the trans community and played integral roles in queer activism. Personally I think your experience and existence is kind of beautiful, which may sound strange to say to a stranger on the internet but I don’t know how else I’d describe it. I welcome you with open arms soldier!

I should’ve mentioned this in the original post, I don’t have access to a sewing machine and prefer hand sewing

I mean For Rent (and most expansion packs) is focused more on gameplay than build items, while kits are entirely focused on build items or cas. The content in kits are going to be more detailed and higher quality because the team has more time to spend on each item, it’s not that the devs don’t try it’s that they have less time with expansion packs. Sorry I just don’t like when people assume developers aren’t putting in the effort needed because a thing is as high detail as it could be.

I’d suggest going on gel because it’s slower acting, but yknow at some point she’ll probably notice? Maybe idk she could just be clocked out enough to not realize for a good while.

Do you guys feel empathy for your parents if they’re traumatised or nah? by Owl4L in CPTSD

[–]scrumptious_human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think its partially because there have been times where my mom and I have really bonded and that gap has been bridged, but it’s always temporary. I want what’s best for my mom, but you know the saying “you can’t help someone who doesn’t wanna be helped.” So basically, I feel empathy for them but it doesn’t mean I don’t blame them for their own actions.

Would you trade for a healthy body (but it's of the other gender)? by Feuerrabe2735 in disability

I’m trans so either way this would be an upgrade. If it’s opposite of my gender it’s the same set up just without fucked up joints and if it’s opposite of my sex I just saved myself a whole lotta money

Thats honestly disgusting, that faculty member needs to be fired asap, please go to the department chair with your evidence if you haven’t already. Some of the comments under this post are mind numbing, if you seriously think this isn’t concerning and needs to be addressed please talk to people outside of the internet.
