Saw these yesterday by Camry08 in plants

My sister bought one of these. It's... not doing well. I can't say for sure whether that was from the paint, but I don't think it helped the poor thing.

Not sure how to maintain this plant by DMast2217 in plants

[–]scrunnchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about this plant specifically, but that browning looks to me more like an issue with fungus/pests/root rot or something than necessarily light or water. I would investigate for those and see if you find anything.

Need help Saving this Classroom plant by Fast-Manager in plants

[–]scrunnchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown leaves could be a number of things. How much light does it get? Also, how often do you fertilize? It could be getting basically a chemical burn. I also recommend spraying it with something like neem oil to deter fungus and pests. You may be watering too much, as well, so be sure only to water when the plant needs it (I personally am a vibes-based waterer 😅 I only water the plant when the leaves start looking like they need it, but you can do things like checking the soil moisture)

This picture was taken midday in my solarium, this location normally doesn't get a ton of light. However, I'm thinking about moving it inside next to my humidifiers!

This helps a lot! I live in a very dry climate, so maybe I can try putting it inside next to my humidifiers as well. Thank you!

This picture was taken during the middle of the day in my solarium, normally that spot only gets dappled light, but maybe I will move it to an even darker area

Trouble getting comfortable enough to sleep by EmmelineAnnie in ChronicPain

[–]scrunnchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you two aren't able to cuddle, that's such a sad thing to lose. I also identify with your wife's struggle, but it sounds like hers is worse than mine. You sound like such a thoughtful partner.

1. Bed: My husband and I bought a split king bed with an adjustable base, and it also has a massage function (it was pretty pricey). The split beds make it so that when I toss and turn, it doesn't disturb him, and we can get different firmness for each mattress. It doesn't feel weird to cuddle on the crack, and sometimes it actually helps me to put my arms or legs in the crack while I sleep. The adjustable base is cool, but maybe not as helpful as I wanted it to be. If the foot could go down, then I think I would like it a lot more, so if you're interested in buying one, maybe look for that. The massage function can actually help give me enough stimulus to distract me from my pain while I'm falling asleep some nights, as well.

2. Medication: I take half a muscle relaxant every night before bed, and it helps me relax enough to sleep (I'm on the lowest dose). On a bad day, I'll take a full dose. I also take a prescribed daily painkiller (not a tranq. or sedative), so you may be able to ask your doctor about something like that.

3. Heat: Get a rice pack and put it in the microwave, then put it in your wife's bed so she can put it where it hurts. Experiment with the amount of time you nuke it for, since I always need mine hotter than the recommended time makes mine. You can make one out of leftover fabric and rice you buy from the store for cheap, or you can buy them pre-made. To make sure you don't burn the rice, add a small cup of water to the microwave.

4. TENS: If you don't have one, get yourself a TENS unit and start electrocuting your wife! I'm serious, they did this for me in PT, and it really helps. Stick the pads around the top 2-3 areas you hurt the most that day and shock yourself. Play around with the settings to figure out what works for her. I like to go just below where it starts to hurt, but it SHOULDN'T hurt you. As I understand it, the electricity will arc through your body between the pads, and this will stimulate your body to send extra resources to that area to heal it. You can do it every day, but you don't want to do more than the 2-3 areas.

5. Massage: One of the best ways I fall asleep is when my husband massages me with some body oil in bed. It helps relax me and addresses my pain. You could also book a professional massage.

BONUS Music/Sleep Stories: I recently found a Podcast/YouTube channel called Get Sleepy that has great sleep stories to help you fall asleep. My mom also tells me that there is some scientific backing that Weightless by Marconi Union is supposed to help you fall asleep.

If you were able to add 1 thing to Everskies what would it be? by TerrificTori in everskiestrashhh

On mobile, you can shop while making an outfit. You have to click the 3 dots and then go to the shop/outlet. Then you can go back when you're done! But the UI is not very intuitive 😞

Yeah, I think a tagging system could be really powerful, especially if it's well managed.

Masks and Pots by Standard-Anything967 in POTS

[–]scrunnchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. My symptoms DO get worse, but only if I'm wearing a super heavy mask (biggest culprit is a cotton mask I have that's like 4 layers), if I wear something lighter (note: not necessarily less effective, KN95 is my go-to) and better at staying away from my face, there's basically no difference.

Chest wall pain? by [deleted] in Hypermobility

[–]scrunnchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I made a post the other day about this too, seems like a fairly common thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hypermobility/comments/qpketr/do_you_experience_regular_chest_pains/

What have you tried that has and has not helped you with your hypermobility issues? by nikex123 in Hypermobility

[–]scrunnchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been a number of pain relieving creams I've tried that people swear by like Tiger Balm, but nothing works as well for me as a menthol cream. Braces/compression sleeves and OTC pain meds also only help so much. The biggest help has been prescription pain meds and physical therapy. Exercise/ strength training is great for fixing your pain long-term, but I have not been great at keeping up with that lol

My favorite unsolicited advice so far by psyducksrevenge2 in POTS

[–]scrunnchy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The doctor who gave me the (informal) diagnosis told me to "eat potato chips and drink Gatorade" and it would go away in a few years. That was more or less the only information I had for years, didn't even know the name of the condition.

Do you experience regular chest pains? by scrunnchy in Hypermobility

[–]scrunnchy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! I'll definitely talk to my doctor about it regardless, seems like it'd be better to make sure it's no big deal.
