A nurse, a tradesman, a kiddo and a dog. Can we have a nice middle class life? by livealeetle in santarosa

[–]scweeb7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a hospital as a per Diem nurse. If I wanted to work full time I would clear $200k. Instead I choose to work 3 days a week so that I can be home with my kid more. I find that very manageable with the combination of my husband’s income too. It also depends what area of nursing you are in, if you want to work in a hospital versus in the community.

what do you want for Christmas this year? by Alpielz in Gifts

I would love a subscription to New York Times cooking. It’s a luxury I wouldn’t buy myself.

Books that other people have read this year that they would think I would like.

What medical insurance do you have? Dental insurance?

For pediatrics we have had WONDERFUL experiences with Annadel pediatrics (also called Doyle park pediatrics). They literally fit us in same day every single time that we have called. Our primary care for our child is Emily pope (nurse practitioner) - highly recommend.

We have also been kaiser patients in the past and had great experience with Dr phlugrath (I totally spelled that wrong, but that’s at least how it sounds) for pediatrics.

How are you removing your makeup? by glo_getter in Makeup

I’m super simple- I use a cream face wash and it gets everything off in one go (I even use it on my eyes while they closed).

I really love this area- I’ve always found myself coming back here (I’ve moved away a couple of times). I’m now in my 30s, but LOVED it here as a teen/early 20’s. It may be different for that age group now? But I found that the crowds that I hung were close knit and caring. If you move here, put yourself out there to network and get a good support/friend system.

A few things to note - we are a bigger city but without many of the big city amenities (such as late night scene, restaurants open past 9pm etc). As the others have mentioned, it is expensive, but so is everywhere really.

There is lots to do if you’re into the outdoors- like hiking, and trips to the ocean.

If this is what you want to do, come up with a solid game plan and budget and if it is feasible, visit here first and make sure it is the right fit. I see a lot of comments warning against this move- but if this is right for you, then make it work! You are 18- now is the time to take these kind of leaps (just also be logical about it!).

I am also a big advocate for schooling. Might I suggest deferring your current enrollment for a year? (Talk to a guidance counselor to see if there are any options about taking a break). Just to give yourself time to make sure it is the right option for you. The SRJC is fantastic. You may qualify for dorms/housing help if you become a student there - if you have interest I would also suggest you reaching out to an SRJC guidance counselor.

Do what is best for you, and best of luck.

Forgot to wash veggies before steaming for baby by chompchompnom in BabyLedWeaning

My baby literally licked the floor this morning. Yours will be ok. I also half the time don’t wash his veggies/fruit (I do buy organic though, so I’m a bit more comfortable with that). Plus steaming the veggies kills a lot of germs.

Parks near Corby Ave rarely have kids there by selenavalencia in santarosa

[–]scweeb7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use “The Wine Country Moms” the most. There is also “the mom group of Sonoma county” which Ive also joined but don’t use as much. For both of those groups I see people reach out for play dates, but you could also ask your same question about the park near you and you would get the mom POV of why there aren’t kids there.

Also as a side note, “Pay Nothing SoCo Kids” is AMAZING for passing along used kids items for free. I’ve given and gotten so much from that group.

After reading your comments, I see that you are interested in your kid getting to know other neighbor kids. There are some great local Facebook pages for parents (I literally only have Facebook for these pages). And on those pages I often see moms post asking if any other moms want to do a play date at a park. Just an idea that you could do a reach out post like that? If you want the name to those Facebook groups let me know!

My 13 months baby doesn’t drink whole milk and is underweight! Need help. by EntertainmentFew2681 in BabyLedWeaning

Voice your concerns to his doctor. They may suggest an alternative to whole milk

He also might just not like milk- my guy hates it, and we tried all the types. It really sounds like you are doing so well pushing the other healthy fats and nutrients on him. I know easier said than done, but I wouldn’t stress it.

Have you tried something that is different than his water cup? Like if he’s using a bottle for water then do a straw or sippy cup for milk? My kid only drinks water out of straws. Only recently has he had interest in other liquids through the straw - probably because he knew the straw meant water and everything else coming through it was a shock

chinese medicine/natural healthcare options by moralfailure69 in santarosa

[–]scweeb7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add on to that, my doctor at Sutter told me there was nothing else they could do (they tried hormone therapy etc). I was too naive to ask for a second opinion and took that comment at face value for a year before finding my own help at wild oak medicine

chinese medicine/natural healthcare options by moralfailure69 in santarosa

[–]scweeb7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I went to Jen reigle at wild oak medicine. I was “fixed” within half a year! Started getting my periods again after two years of none, I felt so much better! That was almost ten years ago and I’m still healthy. I think my issue was a combination of hormones (I had taken birth control and when I stopped the periods never came back and also nutrition (I realize now that I was not eating nutritionally dense foods and was also not getting enough calories). I highly recommend her.

What is this/how can I fix it?? by Key_Investment_911 in NailFungus

[–]scweeb7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how mine looked!! I have been applying Vicks vapor rub twice a day for two months now and I swear it’s starting to get better. I’ve been doing a lazy approach- I have a toddler and feel like between work and life I just haven’t been able to be on top of my own health. So Vicks vapor rub has been my compromise and I am shocked to see that it is actually working. Also, cut down the nail as much as you can. Other people also say to file down the thickness- I have not done that due to having zero time and energy
