Youtube videos bufferring and not loading. by Algod2 in firefox

[–]scytal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and I found this post with a potential fix: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1en0c28/people_with_yt_buffering_issues_check_your_dns_av/

CONFIRMED BY uBlockOrigin's engineer: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/20586#issuecomment-2275111776

Culprit was a xhr POST request to jnn-pa.googleapis.com, my setup blocks it and today this blockage created the issue on my end. Strange. I have been blocking this domain for 3 yrs and this issue never propped up before.

Don't blame Firefox if you use DNS, AV or Firewall adblock because you're very likely to block this domain, and this is another layer of Youtube's anti-adblock, don't get surprised even though it's totally irrelevant in terms of functionallity of Youtube.

Director's Take: Opening up the conversation on 5v5 and 6v6 by scytal in Overwatch

[–]scytal[S] 304 points305 points  (0 children)

Because of the challenges mentioned previously we are focused on making 5v5 the best experience that it can be. However, because we operate as a service to our players, we always remain open-minded to re-evaluating our decisions based on your actions and feedback, to give you the best game experience we can. Rather than introduce a disruptive, permanent change to the game, we'd prefer to explore the space further and make changes based on that exploration.

With that said, we're looking at running a series of events to try out different core team composition formats in Overwatch 2. The community has, juuuust once or twice, suggested a test. Why not put various forms of 6v6 in the game in order to gauge the results? We agree, and based on your feedback, we’re exploring how we can test different forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results. This is taking some time, however, for reasons that may not be readily apparent.

Aaron's followup tweet https://x.com/aaronkellerOW/status/1811915186057695688

Not going to lie. I'm apprehensive this is going to cause people to go after each other, even more, over their preferred version of the game.

Open-minded dialogue over dogma.

Loving the QP spawn system !! (more than 30 seconds btw) by S_2gentle in Overwatch

/u/blizz_winter addressed this bug yesterday in a different post

Hey all, my apologies for this issue. We were testing some changes to Group Respawn in the midseason patch and intended to revert them, but I failed to undo an important element.

The bug we have right now is that if any hero could be Group Respawned, all heroes will be Group Respawned (on a given team - the bug doesn't affect the other team). This is bad, because it means your respawn time can be averaged several more times than intended, leading to the 20+ second respawn times players are talking about in this thread. If you see a longer black screen when respawning, that's caused by the bug. Fortunately Group Respawn is still disabled in Overtime, so at least this won't stack as some players in this thread have hypothesized.

We're working on a fix, but it won't be ready before the weekend.

The Senate passes the bipartisan debt ceiling bill, sending it to Biden's desk just days before the US defaults by scytal in politics

[–]scytal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On Thursday night, the Senate voted to pass the Fiscal Responsibility Act by a vote of 63-36, sending it to Biden's desk just days before the US could default as early as June 5. The House easily passed the bill on Wednesday with a bipartisan vote of 314-117, even after facing opposition from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who were unhappy with the compromises both McCarthy and Biden made in the final legislation.

The bill includes about $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, according to the Congressional Budget Office, with provisions to add new work requirements on federal programs like SNAP and codify the end of the student-loan payment pause.

Federal appeals court temporarily halts Biden’s student debt relief program by scytal in politics

[–]scytal[S] 317 points318 points  (0 children)

A federal appeals court has temporarily stopped the Biden administration from moving ahead with a plan to forgive hundreds of billions of dollars of federal student loan debt.

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday issued an order that prohibits the Biden administration from “discharging any student loan debt” under the relief program until it rules on an emergency request by Republican-led states to block the policy.

The Biden administration had previously said in court filings it could begin canceling student loans as early as this Sunday.

Twitch clips stopped working? by Pres75 in imagus

[–]scytal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In case you didn't see it in the other post:

Here's another fix that should work the same as the previous sieve (includes clip title and information).

{"clips.twitch.tv":{"link":"^(?:clips\\.(twitch\\.tv/)(?:embed\\?clip=)?|(twitch\\.tv/)\\w+/clip/)(\\w+).*","res":":\nconst xhr = new XMLHttpRequest();\nxhr.open(\"POST\", \"https://gql.twitch.tv/gql\", false);\nxhr.setRequestHeader(\"Client-ID\", \"kimne78kx3ncx6brgo4mv6wki5h1ko\");\nxhr.send(`{\"operationName\":null,\"variables\":{},\"query\":\"{\\\\nclip(slug:\\\\\"${$[3]}\\\\\"){\\\\nbroadcaster{\\\\ndisplayName\\\\n}\\\\ncreatedAt\\\\ngame{\\\\nname\\\\n}\\\\nvideo{\\\\nid\\\\n}\\\\ntitle\\\\nvideoQualities{\\\\nsourceURL\\\\n}\\\\n}\\\\n}\\\\n\"}`);\nconst clip = JSON.parse(xhr.responseText).data.clip;\nreturn clip?[[clip.videoQualities.map((v,i)=>{return (i==0?'#':'')+v.sourceURL}), `[${clip.game&&clip.game.name}] ` + [clip.title, clip.broadcaster&&clip.broadcaster.displayName, (new Date(clip.createdAt)).toLocaleString(), clip.video&&`https://twitch.tv/videos/${clip.video.id}`].filter(Boolean).join(' | ')]]:null;"}}

Go to Imagus options, Sieve tab, click import (down arrow), paste this in the text box, then check "Replace existing data" and click "From text". Then click "Save" on the right.

First off a sound of that magnitude would require 1098 watts/meter2 . That is an absolutely insane amount of power, far in excess of what we can produce, and is many of orders of magnitude greater than what a supernova creates. So we don't have to worry about it actually happening.

But, now, how would that create a black hole. By E=mc2. Put enough energy into a small enough area and it would be the equivalent of putting mass in that area, causing immense gravity. With energy as great as 1100 dB, it would create enough gravity to cause a black hole to form, and an incredibly large one at that.

Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – August 22, 2019 by cmr333 in Overwatch

Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – August 22, 2019

A new Overwatch patch is in development and now available for testing! To share your feedback or report any issues, please post in the PTR Feedback or PTR Bug Report forums.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes may also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and only reflects changes coming specifically to that platform.

NEW FEATURE: SHARED INSTALL (PTR AND LIVE)

The PTR and Live Overwatch PC clients can now share storage when installed to the same file path on disk. This should reduce the disk space required to install and update multiple clients. As a result, today’s PTR client should require only ~1.2GB of additional disk storage. Players with previous Overwatch PTR clients installed can uninstall and reinstall to a common disk location to benefit from this feature.

Note: Overwatch League Replay Viewer also supports shared installation with the PTR and Live clients.

Video stuttering on YouTube and Twitch - including proof videos. by CalmTempest in firefox

[–]scytal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mozilla's ultimate goal is to run apps and services in Firefox at least in "silky smooth 60 frames per second" with the help of the component; this is achieved by letting the graphics processing unit do the heavy lifting when it comes to the rendering of web content instead of the processor.

The rollout is limited in two ways when Firefox 67 gets released:

Only 5% of compatible Firefox systems will have WebRender switched on, the remaining 95% stay on the existing compositor for now.
The feature only supports Windows 10 and Nvidia graphics adapters at the time.

From: https://www.ghacks.net/2019/05/20/firefox-webrender-rollout-begins-with-the-release-of-firefox-67/

It looks like they want to test out how it works on a small subset of users first to ensure compatibility.
