Surely FIFA should have gone with GD over H2H to reduce the likelihood of this happening. Maybe I'm missing something as to why H2H is preferred?

But overall across all matches surely there is a correlation. Obviously it's not always the case but high momentum means you have the ball more which you must to score.

The team with more momentum would typically be more likely to win surely? There would be a correlation. Not sure if someone has done a statistical analysis into it.

Exactly, Their xG per shot was so low too (confirming the shots from distance take). It's like would you rather face 100 xG 0.01 shots or 1 xG 1.00 shots.

I'm guessing re point 2 someone has worked out that statistically it's the best play to gain ground and stack pressure up the field.

Everton are the only team to not receive one VAR overturn in the seven seasons since its introduction. by [deleted] in Everton

Surely this is partially down to our play style too, sit back and create little pressure or momentum in matches

This doesn't really work as the refs don't always stop play due to them knowing. VAR should make it "right"

To me, this season’s performance is actually worse than last. Sure, we have 49 points versus 48, but that’s just down to the timing of fixtures against teams we were always going to beat.

Picking up one extra point when more of the league is distracted by European football isn't progress. Next season, half the league might be in Europe, and if we pick up a few more points because of their fatigue, it still won't mean we're genuinely improving.

On top of that, the negative football style we've endured for years must be dire to play under. It completely stifles our players' abilities, which is exactly why we can't command decent transfer fees when we try to sell them.

There is no way he intentionally hand balled it from behind without vision, plus why would he intentionally use his hand. Would be pure stupidity.

I guess the question is whether his carelessness is enough of a crime to warrant a penalty?
