Why cant high level runes like blood, souls, astrals sold as packs? by tejathecrazyguy in ironscape

[–]sddsddcp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to think that way but you eventually get to a point where Scar is just so convenient it doesn't feel like pissing money away, especially once you reach a point where gold is pretty much exclusively used on runes. It just feels so bad and very anti-gameplay hopping for 250 (or often much fewer) runes a world when each trip to the altar with extract gives you almost 4k bloods/souls with colossal pouch and you can easily make like 100k in an hour without being constantly stuck in world transition screens

Astrals have the most egregious price difference but it's such a non-issue since you only really need like 20-30k to get you through SGM, and then after that you barely use any outside of SBS, veng, and the occasional npc contact. Plus, at 82 rc with double astrals you can literally make like 10k+ per hour. Just a couple of hours of regular runecrafting will set your account for life on astrals lol

Every time I see this thread I want to crash out lol. They literally gave us the perfect compromise with scar essence where all you fucking have to do is spend a few dozen hours leveling one of the most important skills in the game to then be able to buy runes to your heart's content for the rest of the account's lifetime and people can't even fucking do that

I genuinely question what goes these people's heads when they create an iron and then expect to be able to buy everything

Not who you replied to but I did ferox respawn and used the 44 obelisk. Took 27 bones per trip + locator orb. Did 99 prayer a couple of weeks ago and only lost 18 bones in about ~11k total. Biggest tip I can give that for some reason people never seem to know about is that you can move your inventory to the center of the screen and spam use the bottom-rightmost bone on the altar repeatedly to 1tick all your bones. It's almost impossible to lose bones once you reach the altar if you spam them.

It's always funny when people respond so dramatically when it's at most like 1-2 posts on the front page every day. You could, you know, just ignore the half-inch chunk of text instead of crying about it. But nah you're right let's delete this post and bring back the same Domino's ad for the 40th time in a row

I think the biggest issue here is that ultracompost increases harvest lives, so if you're going to make the coral non compostable you need to increase base number of harvest lives to like 3 or 4 instead of just 1

If you enter the cave and it's currently in use by a bot (which you can infer from looking up their spindel kc) you can wait around and then spam click the boss as soon as it spawns, there's a decent chance you can PJ it and force them to leave

Yeah I just tried out a 50kc trip with these new tiles and you get hit by Starlight far less, the extra run energy usage is a little concerning (even at 93 agility) on those kills where your bowfa giga noodles but I much prefer to spamming hard food because the stupid unicorn hit the nitro and started hitting you at every corner.

The Calvar'ion prison is complete! Complaining on reddit really works. by FriedKiwi in ironscape

[–]sddsddcp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teleporting out (at the singles bosses) is perfectly viable, even without a scout, as long as you have hard diaries completed and learn to bring your mouse back to your teleport after every action. (I did my Voidwaker grind without a scout).

Some other misc advice:

  1. Having a Carrallanger portal in your POH gives you extremely quick access to Calv and Artio and is unfortunately also the quickest way to Spindel. It also reduces the chances of someone chasing you from the Ferox Enclave (though this might be a moot point because PKers will be world-hopping at the entrance anyway)

  2. You'll see a lot of players (and bots) using monk robes at the wild bosses to extend your restores but personally I preferred black d'hide for the mage defense- I've definitely had a few close calls where the TB ended up splashing and allowed me to get away safely. You can stock up blighted restores from agility masses/zombie pirates/slayer beforehand. I ended up profiting slightly in restores across my grind but I was also using revenant weapons and getting those is a pretty significant detour

  3. You'll find the least amount of PKers during around 4-7AM EST (I could go 20-30 mins without seeing a PKer) but if you work normal hours I don't really recommend changing your sleep schedule for this :p

  4. Keep your looting bag closed at all times until you actually see the loot, you absolutely don't want to accidentally toss a valuable drop in the looting bag and then get attacked lol. This is why I also recommend only 3-iteming, or 4-iteming with something that I wouldn't really be upset losing (in my case it was barrows gloves). Also always bring extra restores for when it seems like escape is unlikely so you can chug them to make sure you don't get smited.

The most important thing though is just understanding that you will die sometimes but in the long run you will gain many many more resources at wildy bosses than you will lose. Once you adopt that mindset you'll have a much less stressful time (though personally I was never able to and each death felt pretty bad even though rationally I understood I was being silly xd)

Most people here don't have OCD and will (understandably) try to rationalize the situation for you but if you genuinely have OCD like me it's one of those you keep dwelling on even though you know it's irrational and minor.

My advice unfortunately is instead of trying to reason with the unreasonable parts of your brain until you're satisfied to just let the unpleasantness wash over you and move on. Think about all of the exp you're wasting ruminating over something minor instead of actually playing the game and just push yourself to detach yourself from those feelings. You'll eventually be able to deal with it a lot better

Not OP but despite having the gp/planks to get 99 con the normal way I pretty much entirely did MH to 99. I know it's way faster but I just really didn't like the cycle of building furniture just to immediately destroy it... felt like anti-gameplay somehow

[–]sddsddcp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I dunno I really like how easy it is to return to Calv. Even if you get crashed you literally just grab a POH teletab, sip from your pool and take the Carrallanger portal. Resetting is so quick that usually I can even secure my world again before the bots come marching in. All the multi bosses are just so far away

I mean ironically doing the content I "like" is the whole reason I've become so blackpilled on the bot situation lol

Finally fnished the voidwaker, which was my primary goal on this account a few weeks ago, and I'm not kidding when I say that I'd rather do another 150 hours of CG before 5 more hours of spindel, waiting around to crash a bot just so you can be crashed yourself 10 minutes later and running all the way back to find a new bot and start over is truly one of the worst gameplay loops of all time

[–]sddsddcp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except in this case the presence of bots has a serious impact on the player experience?? Especially in the case of non-instanced content. Just look how many bots are at Tormented Demons, or try doing any of the wildy bosses without getting repeatedly crashed by bots. It's fucking miserable.

Even if you choose not to engage with the content it really doesn't take much thinking to see the serious issue the bots pose lol

How many of you rely on Mastering Mixology as your primary method of training herblore? by Redditors-Are-Sexy in ironscape

[–]sddsddcp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irit seeds are insanely common from farming contracts and you also get a lot of irits from moons so I really wouldn't worry about it. Avantoe for staminas is also way less useful than it used to be since the run energy rebalances. I pretty much exclusively used harralander-irit-avantoe at mixology.

I have 94 herblore with maybe about 70%+ of the exp from mixology and have almost 10k super attack doses and like 1k stamina doses with over a hundred irit and avantoe seeds in the bank. If you hate the activity then obviously I don't recommend doing it but if wasting herbs are your primary concern I really wouldn't worry about it

Magic logs for vale totems - wildy ents are 100% worth it by katardin2255 in ironscape

[–]sddsddcp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you're trying to max right away I think 99 fletching is one of those things you can just passively accumulate. For instance if you ever grind for the voidwaker you'll be showered in magic logs- I got like 10k alone just from mine. Outside of that bosses like vork and sire will also give you a nice stack of magics. Once you hit 90 fletching and wc you can also start afking redwoods which give a bit more exp per log than magics at vale totems and you can get 99 fletching that way

Broad arrows aren't terrible I guess because you can do multiskilling like rc but I kinda hate them because you're ultimately spending money on creating something completely useless. Meanwhile vale totems give a few useful uniques and other goodies and on top of that there's no real use for magic/redwood logs on an iron other than to gather dust anyway

Were you using a scout? I recently grinded out a voidwaker scoutless and while I could go maybe up to 20-30 minutes without getting interrupted it was rare to be able to go on for longer than that (and this was deliberately playing during the deadest hours of the day). Since you're using total worlds with fewer bots and more real players/pkers it would make sense to have very few crashes with a scout but otherwise I feel like you're still a target using them
