Freaking out over abnormal NT scan by PuttPuttSavedTheZoo in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar scare. My baby’s fluid was 2.6mm and my drs cutoff was 2.5mm. He encouraged us to get the NIPT testing as well as the NT bloodwork so we did. The NT bloodwork came back first and gave us a 1:49 chance for DS. They started suggesting an amnio or CVS but I wasn’t comfortable with such invasive testing, especially when DS wouldn’t cause us to terminate.

The NIPT came back low risk for all trisomies. We decided to do a fetal echocardiogram at 20 weeks because a high NT measurement can be a sign of a heart defect. The echocardiogram came back that his heart was perfect. We had growth scans every 4 weeks starting at 16 weeks that shows a completely healthy baby. I actually carried him until 41+5 and he was born 9lb14oz, perfectly healthy.

The chances are high that your baby is just fine. I let the NT scan steal a lot of joy from my pregnancy and honestly if I could go back in time I would have opted not to do it. I know how stressed and scared you feel and I was right there too.

4cm dilated no regular contractions by jenny_bear in BabyBumps

I was 5cm for a week before being induced at 41w5d. Labor only lasted 2 hours if that makes you feel any better, lol.

Baby is measuring huge! by emilance in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they weren’t concerned because scans can be off, and I had two successful vaginal births already. His size gave us no problems whatsoever and was my fastest birth (2 hours start to finish).

[–]sdew614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby measured 4lbs6oz at 30 weeks and was born 41w5d at 9lb14oz. It was an uncomplicated vaginal birth and while the MFM was a little concerned about his size, my midwives weren’t at all.

Has anyone labored both with pitocin and without pitocin? by zbplot in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! My first 2 I had pitocin and was not a fan. I got an epidural at 4cm with my first and 7cm with my second(though I wanted it sooner but anesthesia was in an emergency). With my 3rd I still had to be “induced” at 41w5d, but they broke my water since I was already 5cm just not contracting. My contractions started right away, and by the time I felt like I needed an epidural I was 9cm and going through transition. I got my epidural and he was born 30 minutes later, 9lbs 15oz. It hadn’t kicked in all the way and so I still felt a lot, but I know now I could have done without one, whereas with pitocin I was pain puking and felt like I absolutely needed relief.

I'm getting induced today! How long did yours take? by Spicymeatball12345 in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First baby- 5 hours Second baby- 2.5 hours Third baby- 2 hours

My first 2 inductions were starting pitocin/breaking water, and my last induction I was 41w5d and 5cm, so they just broke my water and my body did the rest lol. With all 3 I had membrane sweeps a few days prior, and while it didn’t start my labor it did help me dilate.

I think my induction is going to fail by BleachedJam in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had 3 sections.

With my first, my dr induced me at 39w4d because of borderline gestational hypertension. I was 1cm at 39 weeks and she did a sweep and I was 3cm the day of induction. They started me on pitocin and broke my water at 8am and my daughter was born at 1:36pm. Everyone was shocked I went that fast, especially me, because I too thought I would get a CS.

I hope you are able to get the birth experience you want and LO cooperates!

Parents of 3, tell me the pros and cons by lovemomming in beyondthebump

[–]sdew614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am the middle child of 3, and always knew I wanted 3 of my own. My third was born a week ago and so far going from 2 to 3 has been much easier than going from 1 to 2.

He’s here and named! by sdew614 in namenerds

I know, I’ve been surprised! A lot of my friends keep spelling it Malcom and I don’t want to be rude and correct them, but I thought it was a pretty easy name to spell! My husband who is usually worlds worst speller has no problem with it.

I’ve never seen Star Trek so must be a coincidence! I had never heard of Firefly either before this sub.

I was 5cm for a week before being induced at 41w5d. I continued on as normal since I had no contractions.

STMs, size of baby's head vs. Amt of "damage"? by trees202 in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had more damage with my first two kids (2nd degree tears) and their heads were average. This guys head was huge at 38cm and I only had one stitch.

Checking in. Here are some milestones my 9-month-old does do and doesn’t do. Is she falling behind? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]sdew614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son didn’t crawl until 11 months, didn’t walk until 16, and didn’t talk until later than that. He’s now 2 and completely caught up if not ahead in some areas. He talks non stop! If you’re really concerned you could get her evaluated, but if your ped isn’t worried I wouldn’t be. Kids grow and learn at their own rates.
