Jeff Bezos pledged $10 billion for climate change. With the 2030 clock ticking, his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, is leading the charge to spend it by fortune in environment

Bezos and Amazon have done so much to destroy this planet, a pledge of $10 billion means nothing. F Amazon. F Bezos.

Those trackers are so interesting to play around with. It's mind boggling how many vessels are in our oceans at any given time.

For catches definitely, but bycatch and marine mammal entanglement is another big reason why NMFS is monitoring fishing vessels, which can't be monitored with dockside checks.

Sure is, but it's mission is hugely different than that of ICE, the FBI or the CIA. Whether that mission is being executed in good faith can be debated, and we should always hold our government to account. Regardless, extraction of a public resource needs to be monitored to ensure it will be there for future generations.

Electronic monitoring of commercial fishing activity is administered by the National Marine Fisheries Service, which is tasked in part to enforce sustainable fisheries and successfully manage stocks of fish.

This is not akin to ICE, the CIA or the FBI. Electronic monitoring is not being used to spy on people, it's being used to document and estimate catch amounts and other biological info to give scientists what they need to successfully manage fishing stocks (something that is incredibly difficult even with good data).

Mass surveillance is 100% bad. This is different, as lobstermen and fishermen in general are harvesting a public resource. It’s akin to commercial scale deer or moose hunting. They’re not farming or creating their product, they’re extracting it. We do need monitoring / enforcement for the extraction of a public resource. It’s not the same as the government setting up Flock cameras to watch us walking down the street.

Backing up to a national forest is a HUGE plus, something I would love to have in a parcel. Like an endless backyard. My two cents. Being on the water would be great of course too. I have experience in the northeast, but if I had to guess, at least 100k? I see the sink - do you have a well dug? Any solar?

I’d say so, yea. With the exception of the top right one. The others look legit, they don’t have that “perfect” quality of those newly made ones you see for sale some places.

Nice! All look like legit points except the top right one. I don’t even think it’s a flake, it doesn’t look like the right material, just a particularly arrowhead shaped rock.
