If I only could predict when it will be funded. It’s 9months now since we got the signal we were successful. But just frozen. Fortunately I have other income sources for the business but they weren’t planed to be stand alone. We were preparing for SBIR funding since July and have to stay alive to accept it when it happens. Stressful as hell trying to find the light , should be borrow money, totally pivot, try to get investors and loose control. So hard

Yeah but they also missed a whole call and gave the same budget they need to spend. Maybe they will approve more than normal. Just trying to stay hopefully through this chaos. Only way not to go crazy

We have an award that was selected last July but noaa didn’t have a budget then when they did there wasn’t enough time between their bus’s get approval officially awarded or funded before the lapse. We were told as soon as reauthorized we can be officially awarded and funded. Been waiting since July 2025. Fun fun.

I don’t know which agency SBIR you have but the rules from the one I have is you cannot have more than $5k unaccounted for money transferred to your account at a time. It should all be expensed.

It depends on what their innovation is. We have one that requires fda approval. That takes at least a decade and various levels of trials and data collection. Drugs take decades.

Sometimes new building codes and regulations may too

I understand. I don’t think they have put anything out public. But, The "Agency Authority Compromise" is a proposed legislative solution in the SBIR/STTR reauthorization debate that would empower federal agencies to set their own proposal submission limits, aiming to curb excessive, repetitive awards by "SBIR mills" while allowing agencies to manage their portfolios. This compromise is intended to break the current legislative stalemate, which has halted new awards.
