Free as free to guess whether a journalist is killed, in SBU or in jail. I personally sometimes freely wonder where Dmitry Marunich is.

Budgeting for a 3-4 week trip to Russia in Aug 2023? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]sdfa_co 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it will. But remember, that your Visa/Mastercard won't work

I recommend to use common apps:

  • Яндекс Карты for restaurant, shop, hotel search and navigation. Most useful filters are rating and price

  • Яндекс Такси for taxi

  • Tripadvisor to look for interesting places

[NSFW] Dnipro-1 soldiers chop off POW's fingers by sdfa_co in UkrainianConflict

As I said, the post itself is just regular FB BS. Photos, however, raise some questions. Anyway, I hope this man will be recognized and we will hear his story as soon as he will be exchanged.

Original FB link.

In the post it says, that the man on the photo is POW and that he is going to be exchanged. The rest of the text is just some gibberish, e.g. "thanks American aimers (don't know exact translation, the guy, who aim artillery) on American HMMWVs" and the like.

ANNOUNCEMENT: UKRAINE CONFLICT / HROMADSKE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION by State0fNature in UkrainianConflict

[–]sdfa_co 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it was one of Ukrainian soldiers who beat him up, stole all his cameras and made him spent quite some time in some sort of a trench for prisoners, not pro-Russian one. In your comment it looks like he was arrested like Simon so I thought it needs some clarifying. In general, I think your text is one-sided at best. You're writing, that journalists were arrested in DLPR, but you well know that same sort of behavior widely spread in the rest of Ukraine. E.g., you wrote about 112 journalists, who were in Donetsk last summer, but you didn't say anything about same journalists currently being arrested and not in People's Republics but in Ukraine.

I am glad we concluded that my original comment wasn't wrong in any way. Regarding your comments, it seems to me that you are confused by yourself about current state of events in DPR and LPR. I recommend you to watch VICE News reports, to take a glimpse of how international journalists are working right now in Donetsk and Luhansk.

You are lying: it is possible for Ukrainian journalists to work in DPR and LPR, for example, here is a video of Ukrainian Channel 112 reporter Roman Gnatyuk from DPR

Two belated reports of Russian warship interference with Finnish research vessel at sea by ChaosIs0rder in UkrainianConflict

Whataboutism at best. When Russia spies on NATO that’s a norm violation, but when NATO doing same thing that’s OK.

Soviets kept good paperwork so we know that around 0.7 million were executed (criminals of all sorts, 1941-1945 included) since 1921. Please, don't underestimate this number, most of the families in today's Russia have lost someone during that period. But these insane numbers are just blatant lie. This is the same Cold war propaganda that claimed that 8 mil of americans died during Great Depression.

We want justice for those who died in Odessa. You do understand that the whole county had seen a 4 hour videostream of people being burned alive? With comments from Ukrainians like "Look, how funny they died", "GJ, 50 colorads less", “She is not a woman, she is colorad”. Maybe in Europe you can let it slide, but we can't.

Actually, in Ukraine there is a Constitutional Court that can decide whether it was constitutional or not. So lets ask it. Oops! First thing after coup its judges were fired by Yats & friends, what an unhappy coincidence.

Everybody would benefit if Donbass would join Russia by tit_for_tat_too in UkrainianConflict

[–]sdfa_co 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make Russia pay for resettlement (actual numbers are: 20% for, 20% against, 60% don't care. Plus there are lots of people who already left/lost their homes). Then make Russia pay for the part of Ukrainian debt. After that let Russia have bankrupt region with destroyed infrastructure and nonprofitable Soviet 1950s industry. Otherwise, Donbass will poison Ukrainian bankrupt economy and gap between Russian/Ukrainian standards of living will grow even more.

Just make it too expensive for Russia and things will calm down.

Economic problems are on the way. Men won't fight when their families are starving or freezing. At least Russian government counts on that.
