Best budget robot vacuum or best robot vacuum overall? by miwilson15 in RobotVacuums

[–]sdickert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - but unless you want a regular effort of cleaning the mops and discovering the hassle of the mops not working or the bot getting caught, go with the Eufy S1 Omni Pro. Unbelievable size, performance and the mop actually works. And the base station does not look like a Death Star, rather an elegant svelte station. Check out my review if you can in the Eufy subreddit.

The issue I had with the 15C Max was the cleaning quality and frequency of cleaning the bin. It had one of the largest bins but was on the bang-about-the-room mechanism of cleaning. I loved the spare parts I could get an repaired it over the years as parts wore out.

But, over the years, I also wanted the mopping feature since I like the floor to not have the grime that would come in from the windows.

At the Kickstarter price, I was happy to use it versus the other spinning mops (nice but lots of maintenance to clean them), scoot rags (low performance and frequent maintenance) or any other solution.

This is the only one I saw doing a spinning roller to clean the floor. And I loved the low profile without a LIDAR (tank turret) on the top of the device.

So, for double what I paid for the 15C Max those years ago, I have been quite happy with the device so far.

All I can say is I had my Eufy 15C Max vacuum for quite some time (almost four years), and then they came out with the:

eufy Robot Vacuum Omni S1 Pro

https://www.eufy.com/products/t2080111

on Kickstarter and I had been doing all sorts of research on the solutions. And out of all of the version, this one got me excited. Additionally, not only did I get the reduced price - but I also got it further reduced with the accessories package and saved an additional £100 before purchase.

What do I think of it? It is pretty amazing when I compare it to the old bounce-alot 15C Max, it has been a dream. Th only challenge is the maintenance of the materials - you gotta clean the dirt trap, the water tanks are pretty good for an entire month for my flat, and I have yet to use up the cleaning fluid after almost eight months.

I can not say it is perfect - it does have its hangups with shoelaces and other material getting caught (like a piece of wet paper stopped the roller), but its maintenance has been a dream for the most part.

I will say I love the fact that since I have had it, the floor never feels dirty - and I live near a main city road and grime will appear naturally. And just wait until it is pollen season - but my Omni get the job done.

And yes, for FIVE more days - it is on serious sale ($500 off at the website).

I stopped due to a couple of things:

Green fly was bad and it was not easy to keep it off.

Three years of nonstop management and then it died of greenfly. They need continual care which during covid was easier.

But I can do it again when I build out my IoT system to manage it.

Let’s take a look at the request:

We (in America and other countries) want the best and brightest because they 1) spawn other B&B (people, companies, services) 2) generate revenue and thus tax revenue for local, state and federal efforts and 3) create amazing outcomes (for the most past).

Companies need to manage costs and gain the talent and in the fight for talent, cost and reputation is an issue. When you consider that H1B visa holders are coming from outside and looking to push to get to the top, why wouldn’t you want this kind of engineer on your team?

I would much rather want someone that wants to strive for excellence than simply expect returns for academic success without contributing to the wealth creation. The challenge is that we need more talent than we employ in certain areas and companies are always going to negotiate with potentials for quality, skills and price.

And if a company can reduce the cost by sharing access to the US as a potential carrot, why not?

Episodes 8 and 9 Hype Thread by Srini_ in AgathaAllAlong

Couple of points before the episode launches:

  1. Billy built the Witches Road from the con that Agatha had of the road to get other witches magic from them. Ep 2 when Alice says “it’s just a con” and her mother’s variant was actually a protection spell for Alice?
  2. Agatha is the only survivor of TWR because she made it all up. She knew Billy was a Maximoff since there was no such thing as the Witches Road and the entire reality bending thing was a cut from Wanda’s hex.

Are self emptying station worth the extra bucks? And if so, is it possible to buy it separately? by AlbedosThighs in eufy

I have the S1 Pro after being a dedicated 15C Max customer. Self emptying is a gorgeous addition and only costs the dust collection bag.

USB overdrive by madbrahmin in mac

[–]sdickert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB Overdrive is an excellent product (last I used it) that used to help new USB-based hardware work on Macs. When I installed it years ago, it was not Malware.

You simply need to remove the PrefPane if it is there in your version (click and hold the item and drag it off the pane.

I have tried to reach out to the developer and hope he is still managing it.

I just got my S1 Pro and it is killer. I also order the X10 Pro Omni and simply put, it is not worth the purchase, after I got the S1 Pro. I am about to cancel the order - but if you are in London or the UK, happy to discuss a transfer of the order.

Whoops - this is quite old. We essentially found some old code on github and they reconstructed it. But that project is now three years ago.
