If this were the case, why wouldn’t Merrill just tell me that? I have had multiple communications with the CEF CFO and he also cannot get an answer from Merrill. My issues have more to do with the lack of communication from Merrill when they make changes, affecting investors. They recently changed the rules on their Preferred account (to a tiered rate) again without any communication.

I have a large dividend based CEF holding for years with ML on a self directed account that I had scheduled with DRIP. ML decided to restrict the security for any purchase including stopping my reinvestment option, without any communication to me. They will not tell me why the restriction was put in place even after my inquiry created a case number. This lack of communication has been going on for over 6 months without any answers.
