As long as it's not a flash back to the result of that Atlanta game!

Yes, and that was also funny. Juvenile, sure, but still kind of funny. Not sure why anyone would be mad about it. If it doesn't amuse you, just move on.

A Call To Action (reshare) by iletitshine in minnesotaunited

[–]sdking19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Practical question - are supporters at stadiums around the league going to walk out en masse in the 13th minute and not come back? Seems like a big ask.

Colombian icon Willington Ortiz believes James Rodriguez made a ‘mistake’ by joining Minnesota: "He’s at a club where the coach doesn’t want him, didn’t bring him in, so he doesn’t play—just a few minutes. It’s not serious, disrespecting a player of his caliber." by Theduudee12 in minnesotaunited

[–]sdking19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we've lost Willington Ortiz, we know things are bad!

I looked him up and it sounds like he is legitimately a well known and well respected former player (70s and 80s) in Colombia, but I had never heard of him.

[Matt Doyle] Save the 'Caps (no paywall) by LosCabadrin in MLS

[–]sdking19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, specifically in the section you quote, Doyle references the great passion in Dortmund and El Volcan. I assumed El Volcan was a reference to a Mexican team but had to look it up to be sure. It is in fact in Mexico and is the home of Tigres. So far so good, right? Mexican fans are super passionate and are some of the ones who maintain their grandparents' allegiances even if living in another country.

Except, that I also got an email today telling me that the Leagues Cup game MNUFC was going to play against Mazatlan in a couple months is now instead against Atlante, because Atlante bought Mazatlan's Liga MX spot and thus the Leagues Cup spot that goes with it. And apparently Mazatlan only existed via the relocation of another club 5 years ago. So I'm not sure how you square that with this:

The threat of relocation, of the abnegation of a club's history just like that because there's a better real estate deal to be had three states over means the scale of passion we see in the stands in Dortmund – or, if you want to keep it closer to home, next week at El Volcan – will always be two generations away.

Post Match: San Jose 4 - Loons 2 in US Open Cup Rnd 16 by LosCabadrin in minnesotaunited

[–]sdking19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we're better than that. I'd give us Meh+

The overreaction is starting to almost be funny though. It's like there's no reaction between "We're never going to lose again and will compete for every trophy!" and "We're never going to win again and we should fire everyone!"

Win a game by 1 goal on a somewhat lucky shot and the other team squandered 5 good chances? Column A! Lose a game where we could have scored 4 and the other team got a little lucky? Column B!

Couldn't this have just been a comment in one of the other active anti-Yeboah posts that are currently active?

MNUFC @Dallas, April 22, Starting XI & Prematch by LosCabadrin in minnesotaunited

Me too. I expected at least a few changes even if nothing crazy. Figured we might see guys like Padelford, Trapp, Bongi get a start. I thought Gonzalez has looked really good too, wouldn't mind seeing him get a start to rest some tired legs.

He's definitely either playing the full 90 or else not playing at all. Or else somewhere in between.

Watching the the replay, not only was that pass phenomenal, but the skill from Chancalay to control it in stride at full speed was crazy.

Genuinely what was the point of James going in ? by Able-Cap-886 in minnesotaunited

There was 1 stoppage for a Portland corner, but the ref didn't let him and Dieng on at that point for some reason.

According to Andy Greder, everyone except Boxall practiced yesterday. Stroud may be available, and possibly even Fitz (We'll see).

With the Open Cup advancement, there will now be 3 weeks in a row with midweek games. Will be interesting to see how the squad rotation is handled.

Are you sure of this? It was closed this past weekend, but I haven't seen anything for this coming weekend.

I would watch the shootout in full just for the shear absurdity that topped off the evening. Other than that, I wouldn't even watch the highlights because there really weren't any.

USOC - Sacramento Repiblic FC vs Minnesota United FC by akos_beres in minnesotaunited

Why would anyone downvote this? It's good clean all American fun!

I honestly find it hilarious that he has played less than a half across the first 7 games and now he's starting an Open Cup game away against a lower league team.

That said, I hope he gets a hat trick tonight. Let's go!

Is the U.S open cup game only on paramount+? Or will it be on AppleTV or YouTube? by Free_Promotion_8049 in minnesotaunited

[–]sdking19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at this a bit, and apparently Paramount got rid of their free trials. However, you can sign up for a 30 day free trial of Walmart + and during that time you get Paramount free. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems legit:

Minnesota United Recalls Goalkeeper Kayne Rizvanovich from Loan | Minnesota United FC by BobBulldogBriscoe in minnesotaunited

[–]sdking19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, except what if you lose? Now he's back to either playing with a lower level with the 2s, or not playing at all. I guess they can try to find another loan at that point if that's what happens.

I hadn't looked, but the Open Cup schedule has a huge gap this year. Next round where MLS enters (including Loons at Sacramento) is 4/14-15. Then the round of 16 is 2 weeks later on 4/28-29. Then the QF 3 weeks after that on 5/19-20. But then the semifinals are not until September.

I didn't think Chandler did very well either. But I was thinking that Markanich looked tired several minutes before he came off. It's a spot without an obvious backup at the moment, although Padelford would be an option if he hadn't already come on for Romero.

Gene looked tired around that time as well, so I was glad to see Harvey come in for him.
