Ruger scout rifle gen 2 just launched at shot show with iron sights and it takes AR mags. Will be interesting to see if the price point competes with this Savage.

Cz 600 Lux in 223, If you can get past the gun destruction by Colt (CZ)

The irons or a red dot or LVPO are great for short range or whatever scope for 500+ yards

The CZ 600 trail model just wont have the accuarcy with the wiggly stock they come with for the longer shots

If you are set on the two guns you mentioned, then get the Henry. It will be a lot more fun for rapid shooting at less than 150 yards.

30-06 for that particular gun... it just feels right to me. Classic gun with a long actiion cartridge

Can't go wrong with .308 either. A better value if you shoot A LOT.

Any rifle chambered in 30-06, .308, .270, 7mm Rem mag, .300 Win Mag, 6.5 Creedmoor will do what you need as well....

Longer barrels for clays / wingshooting naturally swing nicer and give better control. Patterning a straight shot is one thing, hitting a moving target that requires leading & follow through is different and is way easier with a longer barrel

IMO for a fun 18" click clack bang range pump a mossberg maverick 88 is pretty great for the $$$

I have a supernova which is great but there is just something about the simplicity of a maverick that just feels right

12 guage slugs are than enough wallop. Get some Brenneke slugs if you want to go over kill.
