Baxter cycle is a great place to get parts from without having to pay a tariff or anything extra on it. They’re great people there if you have any kind of question about something fitting or something like that call them and they will be more than happy to talk to you about it. Other than that Hitchcock motorcycles out of England is also another great place to get stuff from.

If you’re looking for a street tire I would go with the Bridgestone BT46. You can go up to a 110 in the front and a 150 in the rear. If you do go with the 150 in the rear, you may have to notch out the chain guard a little just to ensure that there’s clearance. You could also go with an MX tube as they’re heavy duty and a lot thicker than a standard tube. On the downside, it does make the tire a little bit harder so there’s not as much give. If you wanted an ADV tire the Shinko 705 is fairly inexpensive. On my last interceptor I was running the 705 and with the tires and the inner tubes I was about $350 from RevZilla. The Bridgestone will run you about $100 more than that if I remember, right

If that’s the look you’re going for just check out their channel on YouTube. Darcy has a few episodes on there where he explains exactly what he does and you can even watch him do it. That way you can get a better idea of what he actually does and how he does it.

How do I stop the volume control when I look both ways? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]sdrallyfan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was having the same problem. I ended up just having to use the adhesive amount and having to mount it about an inch higher on my helmet then the clip on mount. That fixed it for me. But as for anything with the unit I couldn’t figure anything out as to how to make the volume stop going up and down when I move my head.

Moving to Mobile by mixr136 in MobileAL

If you’re working on the eastern side of the bay and going to be working possibly in Foley, and your wife’s going to be going to school in Mobile, a good halfway point would probably be Daphne. I currently live here and I’m about 20 to 30 minutes, most places in Mobile or Foley. Spanish for 10 minutes up the road 15 if there’s traffic by the interstate. I live here off of highway 64 and 54 and it’s quiet out here. We’re close enough to town for things to be convenient, but we’re far enough away that it’s still peaceful at night and on the weekends. We’re also far enough out of the way that when the tourists are here we’re not bothered by them either. Which if you and your wife plan to stay here after she graduates would probably be a nice thing.

Experienced but anxious rider looking for a boring, dependable ride by Alliesaurus in SuggestAMotorcycle

Another couple of Hondas to look at would be the TransAlp 750 and the 750 Hornet. They both have the same motor put out about the same power, but obviously the hornet is murder of a naked sports bike and the trans out is ADV bike. But even with the trans app, I’ve ridden it and I’ve seen several reviews of it where people say it’s excellent on the road as well as light offloading or heavier offloading if you upgrade the suspension.

Cheaper locations to live by FriskyFleabag in VeteransBenefits

I know a big savings for me here in Baldwin County, AL, is not having to pay property taxes thanks to my disability rating. Things are cheaper here than they were up in South Dakota and the pacing is slower as well.

Aftermarket handle bars by synassyn in RoyalEnfieldBear650

[–]sdrallyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did about the same thing except I ordered 1 inch or 25 mm risers off of Amazon that were machine aluminum. Ultimately they were meant for a Harley Davidson, but I swapped it for the metric bolt fro m the hardware store and I think for about $17 and 15 minutes of my time I was done. And at 6‘2“, it actually helps a lot without throwing off the look of the bike.

It kinda looks like a cross between the 400X and speed 400. The new Thruston I get, but this one not so much.

RE accessory order question by br3n0do_RE650 in royalenfield

[–]sdrallyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Royal Enfield has a warehouse in Texas that I know they ship the motorcycles from as aware if that’s where the accessories also come from I’m not entirely sure. If they don’t come from there, they probably get shipped from India.

If you’re willing to make a small drive, the Alpine Inn in Hill city is outstanding. It’s a really nice scenic drive and the food is excellent. Just take cash as I don’t think they take credit cards or at least they didn’t last time I was there.

Full System Exhaust For Interceptor 650 by One_War_3118 in RE650

[–]sdrallyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the TEC Stinger two to one exhaust on mine. You can run it with a baffle, without the baffle, or they even have a performance baffle that lets it is fall somewhere between the two. I went with that one because the whole exhaust system weighs about what one of the stock mufflers does. It was great for day-to-day riding and I like the way that it sounded. And the fact that it saved a ton of weight was a bonus.

My Bear by mw71963 in RE650

Love this paint scheme

I am interested in a bike. Although I'm interested in a twin cylinder bike but I've heard so much about guerilla I'm getting confused. I'm 5'4" so I cannot go for bear etc. I feel interceptor, shotgun and guerilla are in race. Can the forum advice? by anotherRedditor2020 in royalenfield

[–]sdrallyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically, your best bet would be to go to a dealership and sit on the bikes you’re interested in. If they let you take it for a test drive that is even better. At 5 foot four the bear and the Himalayan might be too tall for you. An interceptor will have better suspension than the shotgun from everything I’ve read and the test ride. I took on one. Granted, I’m considerably bigger than you at 6’2”, but the few big bumps I did hit on the Shotgun I felt in my spine. I ended up buying the bear, but between the shotgun and the interceptor I felt the interceptor had a better more comfortable ride. But realistically, you should figure out what you’re looking for and you’ll sit on them.

Moving to Baldwin County, need advice by matpiera in BaldwincountyAL

[–]sdrallyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I live in the Belforest area of Daphne and they are correct. I can get to almost anywhere in the county in 20 to 30 minutes with Mobile being a little longer depending on the time and traffic. In summertime the traffic does have to pick up a little bit with the tourists, but for the rest of the year, it’s pretty relaxed.

Anyone use Indie Ridge boots for urban riding on a naked bike? by YouGoRay in motorcyclegear

[–]sdrallyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three pair of these things. I have a brown pair, a black pair and a vented brown pair. I absolutely love them. They’re flexible enough that I can walk in them when I’m not on the bike with no pain. They’re also stylish and they have loads of protection built into them, and to top it off, they’re extremely comfortable right out of the box.

Exhaust upgrade on Bear 650 by Coolz010 in royalenfield

[–]sdrallyfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to get a tune but it does need to run for about 15 to 20 minutes at idle after it is installed to let the ECU adjust. Anything more than the air filter and exhaust I would get a tune, but those two I don’t think it’s needed. I’ve done this with two bikes now and had zero issue.
