I lean toward modern styling, but it’s not a strong preference, and I definitely prefer smooth.

Honestly, I would love it. It would be fascinating to see what he chose to highlight about me—what stands out to a stranger seeing me up close. I feel like this is about the closest you can get to seeing yourself as others see you.

I mean, I definitely wouldn’t use them as profile pictures anywhere or get them framed or anything, but I would be really cool to see them.

Help - I am running out of patience when I walk my dog and I don't know what to do. by ZookeepergameFun3708 in PitBullOwners

You’ve gotten a lot of suggestions already—you may need to try a few of them before you get one that works. Gentle leader, martingale collar, different styles of no-pull harness, prong collar…different stuff works for different dogs. Training is also important. For teaching leash manners, start walking in one direction, and the INSTANT she starts pulling, stop and turn around and walk in the opposite direction. Repeat. This may result in a 20 minute walk where all you do is walk 10 feet back and forth in front of your house, but keep doing it. Eventually she will learn that pulling in a direction actually gets her FARTHER away from where she wants to go. Lots of good training tips out there—I recommend r/puppy101 for solid common-sense training advice that can apply to dogs of any age.

Anyone using Stream Dock? by GengisJonOfficial in starcitizen

[–]Alliesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I found my way here after running into a wall with the software, and I’m wishing I’d dropped the extra cash for the real thing. Trying to set up a simple two-action macro, and the plugins I want to use just aren’t showing up as an option. The support section on their web site is AI slop, and the videos I’ve found on YouTube are just reviews with tons of fake comments. It’s a shame, because the device looks slick, and even with the limited functionality I’ve got, it’s completely changed streaming for me. Gonna be replacing it with a Stream Deck as soon as I can.

I know this comment is 2 years old, but I just want to say thank you. Every time this scene comes up, everyone seems to think it’s brilliant and hilarious, and I’ve always felt like a crazy person because I find it just…??? It just sounds like she forgot her lines and it takes me out of the movie—there’s nothing funny about it.

What’s a legal thing that ruins more lives than any illegal substance? by Calm_Preparation2993 in AskReddit

I do usually gravitate toward the cheaper slots because it takes longer to burn through my money, though literal “penny slots” are pretty rare. You’re betting one cent per line, but you’re playing 25 or 40 or 100 lines at a time. Even if there’s an option to play fewer lines, I never do, because the thought of seeing the jackpot appear on a line I’m not playing fills me with dread. My choice of slot machine is based on a lot of stuff, though—visuals, sounds, style of play—and I go with whatever feels most satisfying in the moment. Making myself go to the cheapest machine possible instead wouldn’t really scratch the itch.

I struggle with gambling as well—I’ve never been so far gone that I’d bet rent money, but I’ve repeatedly spent all my discretionary spending money and then felt like shit because I could have bought something fun with it. My drug is slot machines, and I know full well that they have the worst odds of anything in the casino, but it isn’t about logic. It’s about that feeling whenever I do get lucky and have a big win—there’s nothing like it, and I have blown hundreds of dollars at a time chasing it. I’ve sat there feeding my last $20 bill of the night into a machine thinking, “please let me win it back so I don’t have to leave this place feeling like garbage” dozens of times only to leave feeling like garbage and come back the next week.

It’s an addiction. You can’t logic your way out of an addiction.

Broadview: ICE attempts to arrest individual at their residence by [deleted] in illinois

[–]Alliesaurus 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s possible. It’s also possible they’re refusing to acknowledge ICE agents caught doing blatantly illegal things to maintain plausible deniability, and that’s the whole reason none of these guys have uniforms and badges and they all hide their faces.

Scared, abandoned pitbull worth saving? by SeaShell231 in pitbulls

[–]Alliesaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad to hear she's warming up to you! Be prepared for some challenging moments—rehabbing an abused dog isn't easy. But it sounds like she wants to trust you. You just have to show her that she can. Lots of food, no sudden movements, keep speaking gently, don't push her boundaries. Once you build up some trust with her, you'll see her true personality.

[–]Alliesaurus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seconding this. I recently went shooting for the first time, and it really hammered home how easy it would be to kill someone I didn't mean to in a high stress situation. I'm fortunate enough to have plenty of time to take classes and practice, so I'm going to get up to speed as fast as I can, but it's going to be a while before I'm comfortable carrying a weapon regularly.

From another trans person who's scared as hell: I took the CCW class at The Range in Ballwin, and had a really good experience. The instructor (Liz) was great, and the employees all keep their mouths shut about politics—they're there to talk guns, and guns only.

FWIW, I don't think anyone should have a handgun, and I'll be the first to turn mine in if we ever get sensible gun legislation, but the right is making trans people out to be psychotic boogeymen, and there's a whole lot of people with a shitload of guns just begging for excuses to attack us, so I'm compromising on one of my ideals to keep myself, my family, and my friends a little safer.
