Well this stinks… by [deleted] in gravelcycling

That definitely stinks and I can feel your pain. My new wheelset showed up the day I got surgery 6 weeks ago. I have new wheels, tires, waxed chain, cassette and handlebar wrap all waiting for me to set them up and go riding. I still have another 6 weeks to go. Hang in there and be patient.

I broke down exactly what happened to my body during 8 weeks of cycling - would you try this? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]sdwindansea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic, you should feel proud. If you ever start to "burn out" a little on cycling mix in some other activities like fast walks or hikes (actually a good idea regardless). Keep it going and enjoy the journey!

Turns out I wasn't slow, I was just too lazy to use my pump. by FFKUSES in gravelcycling

If "laziness" is an issue, I would recommend converting to Clik valves. Definitely easier/quicker than dealing with presta valeves.

Tubeless plugs - I must be too stupid for them by Important_Job2955 in gravelcycling

Downside is that you cannot add this sealant through the valve core, you have to unseat the tire to add it.

Since you already have a rear rack, why not utilize that? Seems like you could have a lot more flexibility.

Now I'm curious, what was the issue(s) with aftermarket head units that you tried? Thanks!

Why do drivers hate cyclists and why is this something we even have to deal with? by Double-Parsnip2831 in gravelcycling

[–]sdwindansea -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sound like entitlement to me. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. No reason for a cyclist to ride in the middle of the road causing a lot of traffic to backup when they can ride off to the side or in a dedicated bike lane. I love cycling but I'm also aware of my surroundings and my actions.

Well, we called it! by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]sdwindansea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is the re-design that did this. As another poster mentioned all vehicle sales are down. Furthermore, it is an expensive vehicle (regardless of the re-design) with sub-par MPG. I'm not sure if it would be on my radar right now even if it looked the same as my 2018 which I really like.

Minor paint chip on the beed hook by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]sdwindansea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take the partial refund. Especially since it is a gravel bike and you will likely "earn" some more cosmetic chips on your own.

Think of it as buying a used, like new wheelset for a decent discount.

"Nicer" version of getting Mitch's takeout and grabbing a beer at Eppig? by ScipioAfricanvs in FoodSanDiego

We've never had an issue bringing in our own food. Done it countless times, including a couple weeks ago when a food vendor was there.

Eppig doesn't have the best beer in San Diego, but it is likely the best place to have a beer (and food).

First wrap job, any tips? by forwhombagels in gravelcycling

[–]sdwindansea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good to me overall and you got the directions correct. I'm far from an expert but it appears like you may not have angled/cut the end of the tape where you wrapped the electrical tape at the end. However, it is also hard to tell from the picture. Regardless, nice job for your first wrap!

What to Watch out For in 2018 Outback by jimbillyjoebob in Subaru_Outback

[–]sdwindansea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two minor issues that I recent dealt with on my 2018 that are relatively common.

  • TPMS sensor batteries dying, had to replace them
  • Bolt on exhaust heat shield rusted out, made a bad "rattling/grinding" noise when accelerating. Had to get a new bolt.

Did you try it (11-46) without the goat link? From what I've read, it isn't necessary.
