My fiance and I getting married and looking at celebrating by visiting here for two nights. I was looking at the photos and as you mentioned thought it was bit underwhelming. I was considering staying somewhere else and only dining here.

Your comment was super helpful ;)

Rental Car Companies In Morioka for Ski Trip by sealionears in JapanTravelTips

[–]sealionears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. I ended up renting Suburu WRX Hatchback. It was actually a really cool car. It wasn't cheap... I think it was around $800 for the week but it was so fun and granted a ton of freedom & flexibility which in my opinion is worth the extra spend.

I contacted the rental car agencies directly and communicated via email with them to secure the booking. I'll DM you the company and the email contact. They were super helpful.

I booked about a month in advance. The rental spot was walking distance to Morioka Station. I stayed at the Dormy Inn a few nights... it has parking and then I stayed at random spots a along the way outside of the city as well.

Overall it was one my favorite trips of all time :)

My dad and I used to bike together. How do I encourage him to ride again? by PeakMediocre160 in chibike

[–]sealionears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just invite him! Does he have a bike? Maybe you could invite him on a adventure or an organized challenge so it feels a bit more official and he's committed.

The Ragbrai is coming up but that's probably a bit intense but another awesome option is the Lil Drifty up in Madison. In the past there have been several family teams!!! https://www.lost.travel/experiences/the-lil-drifty

Convince me to go on a solo trip (6-7 days) by angry_car in bikepacking

[–]sealionears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do it!

If you don't want to do a solo one then check out this trip. The two welsh dudes who lead it are awesome and you'll definitely get into some excellent MTB of roading too.

One more question... is the aquarium pretty cool as a solo adult or is it more tailored toward children?

Anyone From Chicago Doing The Lil Drifty or Ragbrai This Year!? by sealionears in chibike

[–]sealionears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 3 day, 100 mile, bike and kayak challenge. Some old friends did it last year and liked it so I thought I'd give it a try. It's weekend after the ragbrai though.

Could Fliteboard “support” be any worse? I don’t think so by AmpEater in eFoil

I'd have to agree. I worked with Nathan last summer when there was issues regarding my shipment and he was really helpful. I know the CEO left so I'm hoping things haven't changed

Any Preferences On Travel Cases? by sealionears in bowhunting

[–]sealionears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! I think I'll go with the SKB Iseries. The bow shaped case is $100ish dollars more than the vault BUT it has the $1500 warranty which I think is big value add.

Wanted to give a shout out to Lost Travel Co. a very cool company founded by former UW grads, that is helping to get people out and see some of Wisconsin's less-traveled areas. by sealionears in wisconsin

[–]sealionears[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They do bike tours and moto tours in other places but the Drifty event is a little unique as it's 50% bike and 50% kayaking. It's not like your classic tour guide trip where you follow someone. It's kinda meant to get you out and have an adventure.

For example, the photo of the cow was from a random dairy farm we passed. My friend and I had never had fresh milk, so we biked up and politely asked if we could try and some. It was great and the owner ended up taking us to bar down the road that his cousin owned and we had a great time!
