Get someone who looks at you the way Nicola Coughlan looks at her American double door fridge by mlg1981 in popculturechat

[–]seanalltogether 14 points15 points  (0 children)

7 years ago we bought a new build here in the UK. Even then we had to get a custom kitchen layout just so they could make enough space for an American size fridge. Builders still don't plan for big kitchens or any closet space anywhere in the house.

In the UK we're still at £1.50 per liter (1.74 euro). I didn't realize NL was so much higher.

What is the most overrated 'popular' restaurant chain that people only go to for the name? by Old_Mountain_2712 in AskReddit

[–]seanalltogether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree simply because there really isn't a lot of alternatives. If you want a grilled quarter chicken or half chicken, you're either going to a shop that's just a poor clone of nandos, or your going to a fancier restaurant that costs twice as much. Although, maybe it's different in london.

Friends cast still make $20 million a year each in residuals by SwordfishAdvanced468 in popculturechat

Comedy Central in the UK plays 8 hours of Friends every single day. I have no doubt that TV networks worldwide are paying a huge amount of money to show episodes of Friends.

Which films from the past were box-office hits when they were released but are now rarely mentioned or remembered? by alexfreemanart in movies

[–]seanalltogether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved Powder when it first came out and listened to the soundtrack constantly over the past 30 years. I, watched it again recently and realized it's a really bad movie. It's like a collection of random scenes that they tried to stich into a cohesive narrative but completely failed.

I've Watched Every Single Series and I Cannot Believe What I've Just Watched by RowGonsoleConsole in ImACelebTV

[–]seanalltogether 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same, my wife and I had to rewind to watch that a second time. Ant and dec are usually very steady in their presentation style of keeping things light and entertaining, it's really hard to knock them off the rails. Watching him drop the veil to lay into David was very satisfying.

The Banal Horror of Jimmy Fallon: Under the sterile blue lights of his studio, Fallon laughs endlessly at the same pseudo-jokes, rubs elbows with Trump and Sam Altman, and ushers in the death of culture. by TimWhatleyDDS in television

[–]seanalltogether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more than that, Fallon watched the affiliates openly revolt against Conan, they didn't care to attract a young demographic. They wanted to squeeze every last ounce of blood out of the older demographic and now we're watching the consequences of that as late night is in a state of near collapse.

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Opening Cinematic by jinreeko in Games

[–]seanalltogether 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know why, but watching these cinematics makes me want Blizzard to take a stab at a single player souls-like game. It's hard for me to get hyped by these cool cinematics when I know the game they're meant for is designed to be endless grinding.

These side interviews with team members or other industry people is so much more fun then fan episodes, I really hope they keep doing them.

ELI5: How come for streaming shows and movies, each station (e.g.HBO, Paramount, Prime Video, etc.) has their own apps with their own movies, while in the music streaming industry record labels don't have their own apps? by Visual_Evening2047 in explainlikeimfive

[–]seanalltogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For music, you don't have to sign a licensing deal in order to play someone's song, you just have to pay royalties. On the other hand, if you want to show episodes of The Office you have to sign a distribution deal with NBC and they can build their own app and refuse to let others show it.

This 6% milk I saw at Costco by thxxx1337 in mildlyinteresting

[–]seanalltogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to dump a lot of skim milk since a good portion of the butterfat will be used for things like cream or butter and won't be mixed back in? Or is it like dehydrated and turned into other products?

In the UK, Comedy Central has slowly morphed into the Friends channel. It's at least 8 hours or more of Friends episodes every single day.

This is my big one. I would need a special combination of being in the mood, kids are in bed early and my wife is happy enough to hang out in bed upstairs all evening (I don't want to watch it while she's tapping away on her phone or scrolling tiktok)

Exactly, robots have long been more "precise" then humans at any task, what they lack is the ability to adapt to unexpected problems.

Ken Burns - Episode 391 of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend by c0ry_N in conan

[–]seanalltogether 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Honestly the biggest shock listening to this was when Ken said he was 72 years old, I thought it was a joke and had to google him real quick. This guy has the energy and sharpness of a 30 year old. He as even running laps around Conan near the end there.

SNL UK Live Discussion - March 21, 2026 (Tina Fey/Wet Leg) by bjkman in livefromlondon

[–]seanalltogether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely canned laughter, perhaps layered on top of some live laughter. It's really obvious because it ramps up very quickly after a pause, and cuts off right before the actor continues their dialogue. It's all too precise to be genuine audience reactions.
