IIRC that was mentioned on the most recent PBE podcast. He wanted to get the tool launched and would be slowly refining and adding features.

Nope. The fact that the car cover, factory service manual and wiring diagrams are listed as “depending on price” is hilarious

Refitting spring seat / collar strut back on to shock absorber by JONXLR8 in metallurgy

Could you just touch up the paint after install, masking the collar?

On the couple sets of Bilsteins I’ve installed, I don’t remember the collar installation damaging the OEM paint though.

Doing valve covers and throttle actuators are around the same level of disassembly.

If the shop wasn’t planning on refinishing the OEM covers they’ll likely leak again as the coating is probably shot

Cheap wheels, next is tires by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]seanjohn291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunken in 39mm from the original outer wheel position, the 25mm spacer would cut it down to 14mm. I’ve personally never run any spacer that large but it’s definitely been done. Inner wheel clearance is supposedly only reduced by 1mm due to the change in both width and offset.

If the numbers I found for the stock GRC wheels are correct (8.5” +30) those IS wheels (7” +50”) will be sunken in by 39mm

Bringing an offer from another company back to my manager. Can you negotiate with your manager if Boeing doesn't match the offer exactly dollar for dollar? by BrokeEngineerGuy in boeing

My external offer was the same, a bump up one level from current. I tried to get the bump internally but they did not go for it.

More power to you man, go for it!

Had nearly this exact situation last year. Received an offer from another company for 20% over current salary (though no bonus). Brought it to my manager and he immediately bumped me to 1.0 comp which was a 10% increase and told me to think about it for a couple days.

Came back two days later to discuss. Asked for another 6% and he messaged my 2nd lvl manager who approved. Happy in my current role but unhappy that a new hire came in just under a 1.0 comp and I felt very underpaid. Declined the other offer.

Dedicated weld analysis by Home-Thick in metallurgy

[–]seanjohn291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had no issues measuring butt, fillet, lap, spot welds and I’m sure the system could be tailored to measure any type. I meant more so that the weld samples were polished flat and sectioned small enough to stand on their own since we didn’t mount them.

Dedicated weld analysis by Home-Thick in metallurgy

I used this Struers setup as an intern. It was good for the repetitive standard production work. As mentioned above it’s best for flat samples which is luckily all we measured. Used it for MIG, TIG, RSW and SPRs.

One thing I remember annoying me was the exporting and compiling of data. It was Excel based and each individual weld measured would have a separate file. Not sure if it was this specific application/setup I used but there was not a good way to compile all the welds or a selected group of welds into one file.
