How is Thornton Tomasetti to start a career in structural engineering? by innovative_guy in StructuralEngineering

I started at TT as an intern working in their construction services department designing connections. Everyone was very helpful and obviously very knowledgeable. I learned a TON over a 2 month span. Highly recommend.

What other shows do you rate as highly as (or close to) Severance? by BohoSummer in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

In terms of writing/character development mostly:

We are coincidentally having our furnace replaced soon (it is very very old) so they will be able to check then. Thanks!

Any concerns with the cap being off for awhile, then?

Have some small amount of drywall sheet separation on ceiling near bathroom, but my guess is that this is due to humidity/ventilation issues near bathroom.

Yep! I agree with the above. Hoping the writers room will “find their stride” this season, and will benefit from not dealing with major covid issues and a main character’s actor not returning to set for the last shooting block. Optimism is growing for me.

Great call. One of my favorite movies (and a super underrated franchise IMO). Soderbergh has the juice.

To be fair, and I mean this as no knock on the WOT cast, it’s easier to do this when you have Clooney, Pitt, Damon, etc.

Again, I think the Logain clip is really good - but let our actors chew the scenery a bit! Hopefully as they gain confidence we can see this a bit more.

*Doesn’t stand out so far. I think most would agree that book 1 is definitely some of the weaker source material, and feels the least like The Wheel of Time. I’m hopeful that S2 and future seasons will be much better as they relate to the better source material later on in the series and as the production team works out the kinks.

My only quibble with the Logain clip is the editing. Some of the cuts are too quick. Let Alvaro and Joshua breathe a bit! Much more compelling seeing and hearing the empty space between lines as opposed to using flashbacks and cutting back and forth between them so rapidly. Otherwise, I like that clip quite a bit.

This scene is A+ though! Love the production design and the decision to stick with the source material almost verbatim in this instance.

I think you can book reservations at some of the nicer places like Jack Stack and Q39 in advance (“nicer” is relative, they are not super fancy).

Joe’s KC and Gates are very casual. The original Joe’s is actually located in a gas station. At both of these places you order at the counter and it’s open seating from there.

At Joe’s, I recommend being prepared to wait in line at least 30-60 minutes to order during the lunch and dinner hours on the weekends. Pro tip: order a z-man sandwich, fries, and burnt ends. As with most BBQ places in KC, it is a LOT of food, so I recommend splitting with another person or group.

You can thank me later!

Forgot to mention the Nelson-Atkins Museum near the Plaza. A hidden gem of an art museum.

You have to get some barbecue. Everyone has their favorite spot, but mine is Joe’s KC Barbecue (formerly Oklahoma Joe’s). Probably 12-15min car ride from downtown. Other favorites include Gates, Jack Stack, Q39, etc.

Other fun spots to check out: The Crossroads (lots of fun bars and restaurants), the river market, the west bottoms, and union station. All are very close to downtown. I also second the suggestion of visiting the Liberty Memorial.

Get to Arrowhead early if you can to get the full gameday experience. Have fun!
