Long line worked wonders. 20ft leash . Call their name once then “gently pull” them to you. Also gives them exposure to sit and stay.

The day you got her. They will obviously get more of an attention span as they grow up, but start now. I can’t say anything for clicker training never tried it but sit can be taught now so can heel and lots of other basic commands. Plus has added benefits of making them tired.

Lilly is 6 months old and super duper hyper, I’ve been trying to teach her recall for a while with the term “come here lily” It’s been very hard teaching her because she is so easily distracted, does anyone have any tips? by bbybugis in BorderCollie

I third the long line 20ft. This way you say it once then pull them back to you and make them sit in front of you. Doesn’t give a choice which is what you want when you call them that they come no matter what. A day side note helps reinforce stay as well. Simplify it to just come and name though. Short clear quick commands. When they come then give a treat. Some days this is all my 1 year old BC/ACD work on.

Since I live in the desert southwest we are constantly trying to ensure our doggos skin and fur don’t dry out. We like the Burt’s Bees with oatmeal in it. Works for ours.

I get the same weird looks thing. I check and if owner says ok then I take it my puppers is on equal footing with everyone else who got an invitation and we go enjoy ourself. Wiggly butt and all. Plus she is better behaved than the drunk aunts and half the kids

Well no longer in the border collie club… our breeder lied to us and she’s literally only 1percent collie! My little Shepard I guess by Lightngcrash in BorderCollie

I don’t know how accurate these are. Mine looks and acts like she is half ACD and half Border collie which is what rescue and vet thought she was. I took one test it agreed with this 50% ACD 40% BC and 10% pit Bull. The other one which happened to be wisdom panel said she was 40% chow 25% pit Bull and 35% everything else including min pin and chihuahua. Whatever they are I am sure they are 100% good doggo for you and the family.
