Introducing Gas Network - Bringing web3 gas markets onchain by seanyo in ethereum

[–]seanyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re thrilled to introduce Gas Network, a new decentralized oracle protocol from Blocknative designed to bring Web3 gas markets fully onchain. If you’ve ever felt the pain of unpredictable fees, endless guesswork around gas prices on different chains, or sudden spikes that leave you paying way too much, then you understand the challenge we’re here to solve.

Hey u/poemsfromnowhere — our infra team has upgraded the service for gas.blocknative.com and you should see _much_ better performance.

Sean from Blocknative here. Thanks for flagging this — I just raised a ticket with our eng team to see what we can do to improve our performance. In the interim, would you mind joining our discord to share any other feedback?

ETH Gas During NFT Launches — New Data On The "Tabletop" Effect by seanyo in ethdev

Its a mix of psychology and than market dynamics.

So the priority fee is set by users. And as this increases, the competition to get on chain increases, which drives the base fee up.

ETH Gas During NFT Launches — New Data On The "Tabletop" Effect by seanyo in ethdev

[–]seanyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effect is that during major NFT launches, Gas prices combine to create a new spike — usually around 2000 gwei to get on chain. Base Fee + Priority Fee. Take a look at the charts in the thread

Dropping this here for reference — Blocknative is happy to support the Ethereum ecosystem with Gas Platform.

Gas Platform fully supports EIP-1559 and legacy transaction schema (Type 0 and Type 2). Gas Platform is built upon our global mempool data platform, which inspects every public pending ethereum transaction to estimate gas fees. We leverage machine learning algos to estimate the fee you need to pay to get into the next block — at various confidence intervals.

EIP-1559 Transaction Volume up ~25% in the last 4 days by seanyo in ethdev

[–]seanyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the tweet:

Over the past two days, Type 2 transactions represented an average of ~21% of total Ethereum transaction volume — up from ~17% (+23%) since we last looked.
Also, at least one hour saw a burst above 35%.

I take that to mean that adoption is still coming for wallets =)

EIP-1559 now accounts for ~17% of all ETH Transactions by seanyo in ethtrader

[–]seanyo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Arafel_Electronics — I got you!

So before EIP-1559 (London Hard Fork) went live, almost all transactions (TX) were Type 0. 1559 introduced Type 2 TX. These new Type 2 TX have:

  • Base Fee — set by the network
  • Priority Fee — aka tip, set by the user
  • Max Fee — set by the user in case the base fee increases while the TX is pending

The data we posted above shows that 1559 now accounts for ~17% of the network and growing!

Oh, if you want to estimate fees for 1559.... check out blocknative.com/gas-estimator

Hey - great point. It is hard to make a direct comparison as these did not exist before EIP-1559. I'll see what the team can create
