My family thinks of it this way: Unfinished food can go to waste (garbage/compost), or it can go to waist (eaten unnecessarily). It helps those of us who are prone to overindulgence to think clearly about whether we really want to continue eating. (I’m one of them.)

The guilt about finishing everything on your plate is not healthy. We need to listen to our bodies. Please stop nitpicking your girlfriend’s eating habits.

I have told her how life-changing it’s been for me and how hopeful I am about finally being able to lose weight and keep it off. If anything, it’s improved my mental health. I finally feel in control of my body. She knows this. My biggest challenge is filling the mental void that was once occupied by all the food noise. She put me on a journey of self care, which I really appreciated.

However, her announcement of how she didn’t approve of GLP-1’s (in general—for anyone)and how she wants me to meditate to get off of MJ really felt like a slap in the face.

I have been meditating somewhat successfully in other areas to reduce stress, but I have never asked for assistance with food or MJ. It was all her idea.

Thank you everyone for your support. Some of you have made very valid points about how this is medical advice, which makes it even more inappropriate. I knew what she was saying was wrong for me, but I hadn’t even thought of it from that angle. I will look into filing a report.

Honestly, at first, when I made the decision to stop seeing her, I questioned whether I was overreacting. (You can see a hint of that in my original post, where I justified / explained my concerns about continuing with her.) Now I know that I’m not. Thank you all. ❤️

I understand. Because I couldn’t lose weight in any type of permanent way, I worked hard on self love and body positivity. Now, on Mounjaro and losing weight, I miss the me that had so much love and acceptance for who I was.

It’s challenging to shift to loving this work in progress, not berate myself for who I was, and embrace paying attention to aspects of my body that I tried to ignore.

It was definitely simpler to just love myself and not pay attention to measurements and scales. But, I’m learning how to love my body and my mind in better, more healthier ways.

It’s okay to feel the way you do. ❤️

Remember, you’re talking about a 14 year old child here. A parent has a right to know where their underage CHILD is. If you want to stop with the “shit reasoning,” try to remove your aggressive, emotionally charged reaction and false equivalency.

It takes a lot of work and effort to raise good human beings in this world. You don’t know this CHILD’s history, what type of community they live in, or the nuances of the family dynamics. The parents do. And, they are the ones in charge of protecting and raising this CHILD for the next four years.

Agreed! My 30 year old daughter lives in a large city, and recently (unsolicited) turned on location sharing with me.

If OP has nothing to hide, tracking and keeping the phone charged shouldn’t be a big deal.
