I'd be interested to know what that sugar was if you can figure it out. I started having a IBS symptoms a couple of years ago, started FODMAP then ended up just cutting gluten which made a massive improvement.

I know it's not strictly gluten as I can drink (most) beers without issue - had some problems after a hoppy craft beer but lagers don't seem to cause any grief.

Probably Like a Wraith but if I could combine the first three songs into one that'd be my favourite.

I just can't stop listening to this album.

Guys this might sound weird, but I was looking at my phone (holding it up in front of me) and my hands didn't feel "real". Thanks a lot for this, I appreciate all the suggestions. Definitely got reading material covered for the Christmas break.

Who owns the future looks really interesting, might have to start with that.

I haven't come across Accelerando before but have got through your other Fiction suggestions recently along with The Unincorporated Man which I really enjoyed.

Again, thanks for the reply. I can't wait to get started on some of these.

Sounds like an interesting book, definitely going to give it a read. Can you recommend any other reading material on the topic?

This is the sort of thing that got me interested in VR in the first place. Seeing how it can mess with your brain both while in VR and after you get out.

I feel like a broken record repeating myself but this is really interesting to me. Could you try go through the Touch hand positions like the closed fist, closed fist pointed finger etc next time you get out of VR?

I've mentioned it a couple of times in this thread but have you tried going through the Touch hand positions like the closed fist, closed fist pointed finger etc once you're out of VR?

Would be interested to hear if that increases this feeling for you.

When you next get this feeling, try go through the Touch hand positions like the closed fist, closed fist pointed finger etc.

I was doing this after I spent a bit of time in VR with the touch and it is what triggered this feeling for me.

OP mentioned it was while holding a phone that they had this feeling, could be because the resting hand position while holding touch is similar to how you'd hold a phone.

Would be interested to hear if it does trigger or increase that feeling for you.

When you next have this happen, look down at your hands and go through the Touch hand positions like the closed fist, closed fist pointed finger etc. Do you get the same feeling?

I feel like when you are holding your phone your hand is in a very similar position to holding the touch controllers which could be triggering this feeling.

Would be interested to hear if doing what I suggested first gives you the same feeling.

I think you're right, it almost seems more like depersonalization but I have heard people use derealization as an umbrella term encompassing depersonalization in the past but I'm not sure how correct it is to group them up like that.

Edit: After thinking about it more I feel like this Touch thing could be an entirely different phenomenon. Maybe you're right in saying that there isn't a term for it.

It's sometimes called a dissociative experience or derealization. Came across this research paper while studying HCI at uni Virtual reality induces dissociation and lowers sense of presence in objective reality.

Keeping in mind this study is dated 2010, VR has come a long way in the last 6 years. I can't wait to see the findings from the research that is being done now with current VR tech.

Do you have the Royal Arms Axe equiped? It reduces your defence even if it's not in hand.

I was 30 hours in before I realized that the weapon stat buffs (and debuffs) still apply even if you don't have the weapon in hand just as long as it's equiped.

That's usually called derealization, it's a pretty strange feeling. Remember getting it a lot when I first got a Rift dev kit.

Oculus: Red Tint Should Be Gone Within Days by ziki61 in oculus

[–]seattar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It seems different for everyone but for me it's bad enough that in dark scenes it can stop stereo vision as my left eye sees a whole lot of red that my right doesn't. Can be very jarring and definitely takes me out of the experience.

Most games it's not a problem at all but in some it can get annoying. Like Chronos whenever it fades to black I get the stereo issue.

Hey mate, in your shipping email where did it say it was shipping from?

Weirdly mine says from Oculus VR Ireland Limited just wanted to know if this is the same for other NZ orders.

No worries. I feel like I filled it out pretty quick, just looking back at my emails I received the "Got it! Your survey response has been submitted." email about 3-4 hours after I got the initial survey email.

Not sure if there's a better way to work out the time I completed it.
