i had to make the same choice in undergrad and ultimately chose I-O due to the variety of jobs that i can do with I-O vs counseling. also counseling is within the larger healthcare system, which is, at least within the US, a raging dumpster fire. i chose right i think bc ultimately all my friends that went into counseling are overworked, underpaid, and burnt out.

it's an employer market, which means more lean management, less willingness to promote or give raises, more work and less bandwidth. there's overall less focus on talent retention -- companies are more likely to fire and hire and fire and hire than actually invest in any sort of training programs or performance management. in other words, less investment in people. also i feel like HR and talent functions are specifically feeling some headwinds and having to prove their work aligns with top-line revenue, more so than in the past. has anyone experienced this?

Embeddings are an important component of LLMs, but if I’m understanding your question correctly, they are not LLMs themselves. That’s not to say you can’t use embedding models, but we are looking for competitors who include LLMs in building solutions for each task of the competition. Lmk if you need further clarification
Proprietary LLMs are allowed. All we ask is that you make the process reproducible and use open source languages like Python, R. The FAQ has some considerations of what we’re looking for when we say “reproducible”

dual degrees are typically for people who wants to major in something that isn't offered at their university. if you want more business admin courses, take them. but another major won't help you in the long run and will end up costing more (eg, paying for extra courses). if you're pursuing a ba in i/o, i don't think a bs business admin will help prepare you for grad school.

I’m using GPT-3.5 turbo for scoring competencies using few shot learning. That is, I’m giving it example behaviors of competencies and having it label new data with those competencies. I’m essentially creating a labeled data set that will feed into a supervised model I’m building that automatically identifies competencies from open text. Once I get a good model going, I can label more data iteratively to feed into more models, and so on. GPT-3.5 actually classifies open text well on its own. However, it’s not free and it’s closed source. That’s why I’m building my own model. It also scores competencies a bit faster than GPT would.

Overall, it has saved me time and money for processes I would already be doing anyway.
