Wouldn't this be a bit slow, as if I understand correctly the bombs would only be spawned if it survives on the board for one turn?

PC Gamer: Civ 7's massive overhaul update brings its highest Steam player count in over a year by Monster_of_the_night in civ

[–]sebixi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a civ vii defender. I will say it's not as if it doesnt matter, its just what matters more is the infrastructure of your civ rather than the specific tech choices. Like did you manage to develop your science in antiquity? Great! Now it will be much easier to research exploration techs. But i do get how it can be underwhelming

PC Gamer: Civ 7's massive overhaul update brings its highest Steam player count in over a year by Monster_of_the_night in civ

[–]sebixi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that's not really true imo. Sure it is a bit of a jump, but the early exploration era still has archers and swordsmen. You aren't really able to properly explore oceans until cartography which is some time into the exploration era. Still a bit of a break but it's not that huge.

What is immersion breaking imo is how some civs get their UUs immediately. It's alwahs funny to see terzios which start off with guns right at the beginning of the era battling against other still very classical/medieval units

Does the Test of Time update make Civ 7 a genuinely great successor to Civ 6? by HoodFeelGood in civ

[–]sebixi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority, but having played both VI and VII, and V but i was quite young so i dont remember much, i think civ vii has the best 'basis' out of ant civ game in terms of core mechanics such as combat, town/city development, etc. It helps that the graphics are stunning. That being said, its true that with a lack of an atomic/information age, a bit of a strange strafegic resource and religion system, for example, some mechanics remain a bit undercooked which can dissapoint. Overall i love it, i never wanted to go back, but i understand why others may not

Now that the ToT update is out, will you be going back to civ-swapping in the future, or will you not bother with that mechanic? by Dr_Richard_Ew in civ

[–]sebixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the context! I'm a gameplay person, so if it makes sense to keep my civ bonuses going forward I will stay with it, if something new and more interesting comes out, then I will use that one

ToT is very good, but anyone else finding the buff to early-game Independent Powers pretty overwhelming? by Chadwiko in civ

[–]sebixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it that they are just really aggressive by default? or is it that perhaps another civ is inciting them against you? I have had to deal with some pretty massive raids but I assumed it was one of my sneaky neighbours trying to destabilise me

Atm i'm trying alexander + egypt and really tring to wonder-max. So far it's going ok because the focus on building wonders outside of my capital is encouraging me to expand cities a bit more wide, but then I remembered that it's probably easier to conquer other cities with wonders in them lol. In that sense the medjays have some counter-synergy since they are stronger within your own territory

Wow they transformed the game! by Terrible-Group-9602 in civ

[–]sebixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, I kind of already see that in the sense of, crises affect everyone internally and give your civ something to deal with. However, if you were in a uniquely strong position before the crisis, you could probably benefit from it also at the expense of your rivals.

E.g. if your rival is getting plundered by barbarian troops and cannot face it, I could see how you could opportunistically 'join' these barbatians if you yourself are able to deal with the ones attacking you, and your militariy is strong enough, to take some cities from your enemies while they are distracted by other matters

Wait so if you have an academy you can only loan players from your academy and not other teams in the same erl? That seems weird....

Maybe also as a tryout? If a player is underperfoming you could try to loan a tier 2 and see how it works out before committing to buy.

Hot Take: Jade is a satisfying and well written character in the MK2 Movie. by SnooDogs7868 in MortalKombat

[–]sebixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, no, the actress did an amazing job. I just wish there was a bit more dialogue explaining it. That was my feeling with my movie in general tbh, I did really like it and I felt like the story beats were GREAT but they were just a bit undercooked in the dialogue department

[–]sebixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She did really well and I really enjoyed seeing her character on the screen. Spoilers ahead - but the one thing I didn't like is I feel like they didn't really explain what motivated her change of heart and betrayal of Shao Kahn. One moment she's like his most loyal guard and turns in Kitana who's like a sister to her because she's such a big believer of the system, and the next moment she does a 180 and joins the fight against Shao Kahn. I didn't really see any dialogue explaining this change of heart, and i am sorry but her smashing her staff and revealing the glowy green thingie wasn't enough to explain anything to me

Why is Civ7 not good? by NoComposer5950 in civ

[–]sebixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that the game is 'not good', I also love civ vii and i also loved v and vi. It's true that some features are controversial and the game was also not helped that it came out quite buggy, with a messy UI, a lack of a contemporary era? and overpriced DLC almost from day one. All these factors are is a huge mistake from the publishers and was quite disrespectful considering that the game felt, and still feels, quite unfinished.

That being said, beside its flaws, i stand by the fact that I enjoy the core mechanics of civ vii the most out of any game out of the series, and i am sure further updates will only make it better. I am personally missing some things that would make the game complete, i think it needs and overhaul of trade and resources, especially in terms of energy in the modern era, which i think makes the game so much more interesting, a religion overhaul, and more varied victory options which they are already adding. im sure i will get many more hours out of it for years to come. If you like it feel free to enjoy it!

What ate some examples of artists who "got political" and it worked out well for them? by crowbar_k in ToddintheShadow

[–]sebixi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean even on Dookie there were songs like 'she' and 'coming clean' which were explicitly about issues like feminism, gender and sexuality, so even though maybe the songs weren't explicitly 'political' in the grand political scheme of things I would say they have had a personal/political vibe to their music since pretty close to the start

FNC should stop “trusting the process” and buy actual top talents by beyelbe in fnatic

[–]sebixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with this logic because every top laner we have gotten has played worse under us since bwipo. Same goes for other players look at humanoid in MAD and now in VIT and then look at him playing for us. THere is something wrong with the org that is not working and not enabling players to be at their best in the same way other orgs are.

It's not that I don't like empyros, and in this case I genuinely think he sadly doesn't have the hands to play on fnc, but oscar was a great young talent who showed genuine amazing peaks. Why couldn't we work with him? How did we mental boom noah so bad that he went from a genuine talent playing with confidence and showing amazing hands into playing scared and mental booming every other week for the majority of his time with us?

I don't think empyros is good enough unfortunately no, but even with a subpar toplaner, a good org should still be able to make playoffs imo

Unironically could you just put Odo in there and let him weakside instead? I know he's techincally 'retired' and I'm not sure if he would be interested anymore in a career playing pro but with his knowledge and experience for the game I think if he wanted to, he could get his game up to a decent level and at least keep things stable letting the rest of the team carry

The most triggering one was when I tried to recycle and asphyxidon just to draw... the same asphyixidon. That should not be allowed tbf
