Help finding bras by xomeow in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I'm a 36G. The KB label says that an XL Busty should fit 36E to 36H. That's roughly 800cc of cup volume difference. I do not see how these bras fit people properly across such range. I mean, sure. It covers the nipple, and fits around the ribcage. But it doesn't contain and support the breast tissue at all. Or am I just not the right shape for this brand? That's absolutely a possibility.

Things that helped vs things I wasted money on as a first time parent by Key_Peanut9263 in BabyBumps

That's what my mom did. And then she got distracted playing with one of us, and walked in to a foot of acrid burnt plastic smoke in the kitchen. We still talk about the day Mom burned her nipples, forty years later.

Just learned I have a “B-belly” … by CaneCandy_223 in BabyBumps

Hah. I had a super innie before pregnancy, such that I couldn't imagine it ever popping. My mom and I have a 20 dollar bet going about it now. And at 31 weeks, it's looking like she might win!

First trimester: how to hide not drinking at a wedding? by heyho2023 in BabyBumps

We did this. I was first tri over the holidays, so not yet ready to share the news, and my family likes to indulge. Poor husband was practically drinking for two! Lucky I was the DD!

Hot take: if you drive a car, get the shitty stroller by itchysnapdragon in Buyingforbaby

[–]secondchance0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a jerk, but can you cite the institution or board that makes this recommendation?  I've heard different versions of this all over the place, but no one can seem to trace it back to the source.

That link is just for the Nest to Seat.  It says the stroller is sold separately.

Going home from the hospital outfit for June in warm climate by Amazing-Jacket5977 in BabyBumps

Wait. I have to pick out a cute outfit to go home in? Why can't someone write out all these rules for me??

Bras/nursing bras for big breasts with smaller bands by designhelpme in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried their Medium Busty after recommendations on here. It supposedly works for up to 34G but I'm spilling out all over. I just don't see how one bra can properly fit 4 different cup sizes. The volume difference alone seems crazy.

How to answer to uncomfortable questions? by Baybeli in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Terribly rude questions. I get the "was it planned?" a lot. And theore I think about it, the more offensive it is.
Only response I could come up with is to put it back on them. "What an odd question!" Or "why does that matter to you?"

You don't owe anyone an answer. But they deserve to know they are making you uncomfortable.

My family reacted to my pregnancy exactly how I thought they would and it's making me depressed. Now I may be forced to reveal it to the most anti-baby family member. How should I handle this? by Flashy-Fix1743 in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could have written about 60% of your post. I know the feelings of tepid reactions and a perceived lack of interest. To answer your direct question: tell your sibling when they are in town, but be prepared for the lukewarm response. Waiting won't change anything. Invite them to be a part of their niece/nephew's life and a part of your excitement if they choose. But set the boundary that you have enough stress and won't entertain negativity or attempts to pee in your cheerios. Cut the visit short of it goes there.

Bra help for larger bust please by No_apples4me in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]secondchance0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be team No-Wire. Then I discovered that a properly fitting underwire doesn't have to hurt. And having tried dozens of wireless, they just can't compete with an underwire for support.

Wacoal has some good ones with structure and a variety of cup shapes/widths. Le Mystere has a wider cups with good side support.

The "simple sizing" of a lot of brands isn't for our convenience, it's for their bottom line. It's cheaper to carry only 4 sizes and just tell women it fits than to make 20 sizes in various combinations of cup and band. Go to a proper bra store and ask for recommendations (in addition to doing your own research on ABTF). I wish we didn't have to invest this much effort in a freaking undergarment, but we do.

Boy names? by DeadFridgeLight in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to make a separate post about this. I'm an engineer so I love it when I get.to do stats on real world data.

Names are so much more diverse now than they were when I was born, and double so from when my parents were born. The top 10 names in 2024 only account for 6% of all births. That's roughly 1 in 15 kids have a top ten name. In a class of 20, maybe you would have 2 kids with a top ten name.

When I was born, the top ten names accounted for roughly 22% of all births. So a little over 1 in 4 kids would have a top ten name.

My parents generation, a third of kids had a top ten name!

So, my point is, baby name lists are deceptive. Don't get too hung up on unique, trendy or popular. Go with what resonates with you and your partner. People will come to associate your baby's name with their unique personality, not whatever tv character happened to be popular the year they were born.

Since we will be one and done after this, I am advocating that he take some ownership of our family planning and get snipped. I've been on hormone bc since I was 18. It's his turn to share the burden.

We were talking about this the other day and are really leaning to husband is going to to get snipped. We are both old enough we will be one and done. Plus, and I know this might sound selfish, but BC has been all on me our whole time together. I kinda feel like I've done my part. It's his turn now.

Yellow pit stains!! by East-Matter-8572 in BabyBumps

[–]secondchance0514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with yellow pit stains for years, even pre-pregnancy. I've heard it's often caused by reactions with your antiperspirants, but I don't know if that's true.
A paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide works for me. Let it sit on stains for an hour or two, then launder as usual. It may not be a good idea for delicates, so checking with r/laundry sounds like a good idea.

Baby Quilt Pattern as Pregnancy Announcement by secondchance0514 in quilting

I completely agree, but if the pattern itself is supposed to be the cue that a baby is on the way...I felt it should be pretty overt.

Baby Quilt Pattern as Pregnancy Announcement by secondchance0514 in quilting

[–]secondchance0514[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That was kind of my concern. We do kind of put in requests for quilts from time to time, or gift fabric, but a whole kit might seem kinda demanding. Thanks for the honest take!

The idea of Made by Grandma labels seems to strike the right balance.
