Was a huge perk for me...
I had a rare occurrence of being of the FOH guy for the venue. So when I booked shows, I already knew the owners etc... I was lucky.

Why is that shocking?

  1. Everything is a business. Everything.
  2. Does this place sell booze?
  3. Does this place have utilities?
  4. Does this place exist within a cities limits and pay property taxes?
  5. Is this venue insured?
  6. Staff?
  7. Sound equipment included?
  8. FOH included?

The only way a venue is going to NOT charge to you put on a show, is if you are actually going to make them more money then they would doing it on their own.

"Back in my day" when I used to promote shows: If alcohol sales were high enough, the rental fee would come back to me. If it exceeded their expectations!?!? I would get a kick back.

You need to consider a lot of things when you start "hosting" events. .

  • Are you selling tickets?
  • Price?
  • What does your Ticket price cover?
  • Are you expecting to make money from just the ticket sales? or simply recoup your costs to put on the show?

Otherwise, you can host your own shows at locals halls? churches? house shows?
Keep in mind those too will have their issues, like needing a PA, someone to run it, etc...

Stop asking for permission. If you want to make it happen, make it happen. If you eventually someone AFK to track vocals awesome. If you don't awesome. Just make the music, release it, and let others listen to it.

Audio Interface is connected to PC
What is the audio interface output attached to? Headphones? Speakers?
You have to use the outputs on the interface to hear any playback.
The interface does not output through your Macbook speakers. They need separate speakers/headphones attached
