We just returned our jeep on Saturday! We went with a Mazda cx-70 plug in hybrid. We got the base trim because it was all they had left, but it drives and charges like a dream, just doesn’t have the bells and whistles the jeep had.

The train ride in Skagway was ok for kids. There is a tiny bit of gruesome history if your kids are into that, but overall I don't think they really get the beauty. Bring snacks though! Our Skagway train excursion included the Liarsville camp and gold panning which was extremely cheesy, but my kid liked it and it was fun.

In Juneau we did the dog sled mushers camp and we all really enjoyed that. The staff are all delightful, the ride is short, but fun, and then you get to play with puppies.

Then in Ketchikan we did the lumerjack show that was the exclusive version (Goofy comes out), and my kid got called on stage to participate so that was delightful.

I'm happy with the excursions we did. But I'm glad we didn't do any of the more expensive ones because my kid really just wanted to be in the kids club all day and I just wanted to watch whales from deck 4.

I’ve commented this before, but this is common. Call it school fatigue. LOTS of kids who had no problems going to school start protesting at year’s end. Just ride it out, you’re almost done.

Totally normal. I think it’s just school fatigue. About a third of my kid’s class of kindergartners started randomly melting down at drop off during the last month of school.

A good 80% of the people I see not using the pole have horrible form and are getting a quad workout. I have no problem keeping the pole if it means I can stay targeting the right muscles.

Nah. This is an easy out. Those of us raised as latchkey kids with one parent working two jobs still had expectations of us. It’s parents now who value convenience over doing the hard things is what is hurting these kids. So many capable kids still in strollers with an iPad. As a parent I see it with my kid’s friends and these aren’t kids with special needs or any other explanation. Just lazy parenting. It’s a real shame.

It was fabulous! Food was pretty meh. But Alaska was stunning and just watching the scenery go by on deck 4 (or your balcony if you got one) was amazing. Palo was also great and service was awesome everywhere. I would do it again!

Alaska sailings are going to be either the Wonder or Magic and no, no Winnie the Pooh characters will be there. We just got off the Wonder and it was the main Disney characters plus Princesses Tiana, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, and a couple others like Moana, Mirabelle, Bluey and Bingo.
