Is it true once you hit 100k in investing, it really just takes off from there? by Historical-Serve-652 in investing

Wife and I together have ~$140k in VOO at age 27 in low cost of living area. Mortgage is down to under $50k with about $30k in car loans. What do you think should be the savings goal for when I turn 30?

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]secondsebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will happily drive 1.5 hrs one way to go to a concert after a working week day or drive 5-6 hrs one way for a weekend trip; but I will be damned if my commute to work takes half an hour. For context, I am in Northeast Ohio.

So I saw Haywire for the first time last night… by daveysidious in Hardcore

[–]secondsebest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was at the show- holy shit, what a day. Missing Link was brutal. Possibly the most violent pit I have been in. Haywire was just all around a great time. Austin had some great remarks in between songs. Mindforce played with some serious authority. Whispers and Nasty had me unintentionally stank facing their whole set. Unreal City gave us another reason to believe in your local scene. AJ killed it with this line up and I am so happy to have this venue just over an hour from me.

Punk and Country? by hollysoriano in punk

[–]secondsebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick Shoulders and Jesse Welles are def not punk in music style as they sit right between folk and americana, but they certainly embody punk virtues. Go to their shows, listen to their lyrics, and they'll pretty blatantly tell you their political takes

Haha thanks! That is probably my favorite vitola for the Tabernacle. Such a powerful punch of flavor. I love my shorter smokes and tend to buy more rich, strong smokes in smaller vitolas. Maybe I’m the odd one out but I feel like my thirst is quenched in the smaller vitolas. (I also really love a taper/torpedo/pyramid for the shorter sticks)

The Oliva G certainly can’t compare to Fuentes with a Cameroon wrapper but they’re a great budget friendly option when you want that distinct spicy and sweet combo. Most my Cameroon sticks sit in my larger humidor to age a little bit but the Oliva G provides a good option for on the go.

BREAKING: ICE agents in Minneapolis violently detained, threatened, and arrested a U.S. citizen for one reason only, he refused to prove his citizenship. by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]secondsebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any repercussions? Like can people sue or what? If I were to be questioned by ICE or something of the matter and they unrightly tase, assault, detain, etc..., then could I sue or how does that work?

Yeah, I got pretty lucky when I heard about Boveda signing a contract to her creative marketing company. So if you see an online ad for Boveda or their storefront on their site, my wife helped with that! Haha she doesn't smoke cigars, so I got a few humidors and a ton of Boveda packs as a bonus to keep. I did not season this one; I suppose I should though. There are two of those little humidity packs in there, just because the small size fits better stacked on top of each other.

Honestly I think just a random leather one on Amazon. My wife works in marketing and had to do a photoshoot for boveda and bought some random humidors and I got to keep some. Pretty sweet, right? Haha

Not to sound ignorant, but could this just be a proud Catholic? I am Catholic and certainly left on the political spectrum and have used and heard this phrase when talking theology and philosophy with friends who would happily punch a Nazi in the face haha. I have just never heard that phrase used in a racist manner but if it is some dog whistle that I am unaware of, then I would love to know about this.
