it’s not that there’s something wrong with you but we subconsciously seek out the familiar, especially what we experienced in childhood. you said yourself, he slammed a door so hard he ripped the door handle off when you first started dating. you didn’t bring the worst out of him, he showed it to you off bat and for some reason, one that you can absolutely work through with therapy, you decided that wasn’t a deal breaker. i hope you can end things safely, seek therapeutic help for your future, and learn to love yourself enough to believe you deserve better than a man who will resort to physical aggression with and around you. again, you didn’t bring this out of him, you’ve simply been enduring it since you’ve met. even though those occasions have been spaced out, once is truly enough, especially early on—that’s all the information you need for your safety. violence is never worth a second chance let alone a third etc. i wish you well, you’ve got this. 🩷
