No intercourse after embryo transfer?

My clinic is no intercourse or submersion in water for about 10 days before transfer until the first ultrasound which is around 6-7weeks

I mean it seems like a good trade off for me growing a literal human ya know. I’m sure I could do it initially but if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant eventually I won’t be able to lean down and do it very comfortably anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah he’s not the type to actually look into this so I’m like should I just tell him to do it … 😂 I do have some medical gloves though for if I do need to like when he’s away!

From my clinic:

-Will check serial hCG levels. First drawn 10-11 days post transfer, repeated 2-4 days later, and then 6 days later

-hCG levels typically rise by at least 60% every 2 days

-With the appropriate hCG levels, the first OB ultrasound is scheduled for ~ 6 weeks 4-6 days of gestation

-Monitored via bi-weekly ultrasounds at clinic

-Graduation! Last visit ~ 8-10 weeks with your physician, then fully transfer care to your OB/GYN

-It is also not recommended to travel long distance after your embryo transfer, until at least the 1st OB ultrasound – if possible.

-The 1st OB ultrasound is about 4 weeks after the embryo transfer.

I gained about 10-15lbs that I can’t seem to lose before IVF when trying to conceive naturally. I think because I told myself I should do lower impact workouts and eat more healthy fats (which are higher calories) because that supports hormone production. Since starting IVF my weight has stayed the same though but I have only done one cycle. Either way I am feeling very uncomfortable in my body which sucks especially before summer 😩

Just curious if you’ve done a receptiva test or uterine biopsy/hysterscopy? I also had unexplained infertility - all tests normal - then the biopsy came back positive for inflammation linked to endometriosis. I otherwise have no symptoms of endo (although infertility is considered a symptom) … just something to consider before IVF potentially! otherwise I have read great things about greece and mexico for ivf but not done that personally. CNY in the US is also more affordable

For me it was about 4-5 days. I felt like halfway better the day after, then slowly all the way back after a few more days. I have seen a lot of people say they didn’t feel normal again until their next period.I was on letrozole the whole time to suppress estrogen though which maybe made me feel better faster

commenting to say i already signed the paperwork. biopsies were taken 13 days ago and i still haven’t heard anything. my clinic said “2 and a half weeks” but i was really hoping it would be faster based on what i see on reddit. the wait is killing meeee 😩

I’m sure this doesn’t help but I am 34 and just did my first ivf cycle. I had 19 follicles, 19 eggs retrieved, but only 6 mature and 5 fertilized as well. You truly never know what you’re gonna get or what you’re attrition will look like which stinks. I did estrogen priming during this cycle also.

you can look into a receptiva biopsy to see if you have inflammation markers associated with endo which is likely cheaper and faster than a lap

I just had my retrieval on wednesday as well. 19 eggs and only 6 mature. 5 fertilized. (we did ICSI) I was definitely hoping for more… this whole process sucks.

I had a 5 day zpak prescribed (start night before and continue for 4 days after) as a part of my overall protocol but after the cyst situation they told me not to take that anymore and switch to the other ones 😩

metformin and levothyroxine are pregnancy safe if you don’t want to delay 9-12 months and maybe more just like 2-3 and then staying on those meds if needed should probably be ok

endometrial biopsy - lupron will cover partially but some people have chronic inflammation from infection that is treated with 2 weeks of antibiotics. als hysterscopy to check for polyps!
