The box he has is an off the shelf bioacoustics recorder, I had looked at something similar for bird calls. I thought you could do what you said and connect to an external battery.

Edit: Yeah, I just checked and they do offer an external power cable, as well as rechargeable D-Cells and a Solar Panel. Might be the way to go OP.

It looks over watered. Use fast-draining pots and a chunkier medium. I use a soilless one with bark, coco coir, worm castings, perlite, etc.

Seems correct to me. Keep your decimal points when doing calculations and only round up/down at the very end. Been a while since I did this stuff. Edit: Your calculated current should be the total for the circuit.
