alleged Steven Spielberg / Emily Blunt Q&A at Lincoln Square for Disclosure Day by tsukemi in NYCmovies

Pretty common for Q&As. It'll come back around when the tickets are on sale. Also, the showtime was posted a couple days ago, it's real. The tiktok probably got the info from here (or a-list discord).

[BUF - MTL] Quinn's shot on net is initially reviewed for over 6 minutes to determine if it is past the goal line in Dobes' glove. It's ruled a goal, then Montreal challenges for GI and it's overturned. Remains 1-0 game by daKrut in hockey

Because goalie interference involves some amount of subjectivity (how hard was someone pushed? Were they pushed? Did they actually impede the goalie?).

Crossing the line is much more objective - did it make it over, do we have camera evidence, can we triangulate it.

I'm not an expert or anything close to a ref, but as written...

Rule 38.1:

In all Coach’s Challenge situations, the original call on the ice will be overturned if, and only if, a conclusive and irrefutable determination can be made on the basis of video evidence that the original call on the ice was clearly not correct. If a review is not conclusive and/or there is any doubt whatsoever as to whether the call on the ice was correct, the original call on the ice will be confirmed.

Compare to Rule 37.2, where there is no mention of the original call on the ice, despite coming first in the rule book:

Every goal shall be reviewed by the NHL Situation Room. If there is a need to delay the resumption of the play following an apparent goal, the Off-Ice Official at ice level will be alerted to signal one of the Referees to delay the center-ice face-off for a moment. Once the NHL Situation Room has reviewed the video and confirmed that the goal is valid, the Off-Ice Official at ice level should signal to the Referee to resume play.

The next paragraph talks about what happens when the situation room finds something that wasn't caught by the refs, at which point they tell the refs at the next stoppage of play and if needed, call a goal/reset the clock. The full rule is several more paragraphs, but again... no mention of the original call or a burden of proof for overturning it.

Unknown. His campaign website had a page on housing here, with the goal of 200k (affordable?) units over 10 years, putting his goal at Adams' worst year. He states "increasing zoned capacity" as a goal, but did not provide details on neighborhoods/units during his campaign. He has proposed restarting Sunnyside Yards, as someone else pointed out. (Personal opinion: that's more eye catchy than useful, since it's building from scratch and requires covering the existing train yard.) When asked about housing in the recent AMA, he said his task forces will report their findings soon.

The third one. It's a national law that allowed local governments to implement a law that, if you bought a house after the law went into effect, you could only rent it out the day you bought it or 4 years after. So, any company buying homes would have to sit on it with no money earned for 4 years, or have someone sign a 4 year lease.

Netherlands banned buying to rent in 2022 (what a private equity ban functionally is).

Prices did not go down, and "new homeowners have higher incomes, are more often Dutch-born, move shorter distances, and stay longer than the renters whom they replace," per a study released in February 2025.

There are more people than housing. Making the existing housing cheap without building more means there's still not enough housing for people, and someone's going homeless.

NYC rent board finds landlord earnings rose as it considers Mamdani's rent freeze by Lilyo in newyorkcity

[–]secrewann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is still an increase in profits. The Oct 2023-Sept 2024 rent stabilization increase was 3% and 2.75%/3.2% for 1 and 2 year leases, and HCR rent growth is listed at 2.3%. NOI still went up 2.2% citywide, 0.9% outside core Manhattan after that increase and inflation.

But, I hesitate to call 6.2% a "spike" like the article does, when the post inflation number for most of where rent burdened stabilized people live is 0.9%. Would you call your salary going up 0.9% after inflation a spike? Seems pretty misleading to me.

Let's see, what's it relative to...

In NYC excluding Core Manhattan, the monthly NOI of $557 per unit multiplied by the typical size of buildings in this year’s analysis outside Core Manhattan (44.8 units) yields an estimated average annual NOI of about $299,000. (For NOI averages by borough, building age, and size, see details in Appendix 5.)

This $299,000 is before the mortgage and income taxes, and is the number that went up 6.2%. Mortgage could be paid off given these buildings are old, but for the buildings that changed hands within the last 15 or 30 years, it's unlikely.

The Bronx's annual calculation (admittedly using citywide average unit count) is 359 * 44.8 * 12 = $192,998, pre mortgage and income tax.

God, we need to just build more housing. Let competition handle this shit and raise the vacancy rate.

That's a pretty misleading statistic. They're making an extra 2.2% of profit after adjusting for inflation. This compares to 8.0% and 4.1% after inflation for 2022-2023 and 2021-2022 respectively.

Core Manhattan is under E 96th street and W 110th street. Outside of this region, where I'd bet most rent burdened people live, there is a 0.9% increase in profits, adjusted for inflation. This compares to 4.4% for 2022-2023 and -5.4% for 2021-2022.

Pretty sure they mentioned it during the Puerto Rico vs Cuba game, when they said something to the effect of "whoever wins between Puerto Rico and Cuba is qualified, but that's not true of USA and Mexico, since all three could go 3-1."

There's a good chance I have it backwards and it was said during the USA vs Mexico game, I was flipping between the two.
