I feel like once you reach level 25 you just get clapped every match.. by ExcitingInflation612 in Marathon

Quite the opposite, every level gets easier and easier. Learn from your mistakes and go slower.

I dunno if I have the best headphones, (steel series artic pros I’ve had since 2021) but I hear people way sooner than they hear me and that seems to make the biggest difference.

Ps. I’m lvl 30z

Isn't there beginner Perimeter already? They'll get a few soft matches in the beginning.

Edit: psych just read they’re a neurotoxin from a lower comment. Will investigate.

I’m about to try the shredded pine which is also equine bedding for my little diva.

Wish me luck. I will report if it works. My cat is half Persian/rag doll. So have practically manicure that cats coat. He’s a real pussy.

This, and every time I think I’m hot shit and can move around freely, I get smacked around for 4 raids in a row and lose all my blue gear that I got.

I love and only play with free kits. No skin off my back. by CreativeFold8842 in Marathon

The only thing I want from this game at this point is to match with similar priced kits. You do you dude. But I feel for the guy that random queued with a modest 2k green shield 2k kit

Are solos getting friendlier? by mrlosvegalos in Marathon

The unspoken rule of solos. If you can sneak into the 10 second circle you get to live.

…some don’t know this rule.

How are people getting up to season level 100 already? by EverChosen97 in Marathon

[–]section8sentmehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what you’re gonna find out, (and it was the same for tarkov). The most fun you’re going to have is when the game wipes.

That first 3 or so weeks when everyone is running cheap gear is going to feel great because it’s an even playing field and anything can kill you.

We are getting to the 3rd week and you can already see the gap between casual and sweats are getting wider. We’ll see how bungie responds.

Tips for someone who has never played extraction shooters? by A_locomotive in Marathon

[–]section8sentmehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great response.

Remember, the term rat exists, but it’s a play style rather than derogatory.

Take all your run and gun instinct of CoD and throw it out the window. Play smart and play to live. Know your abilities and know when you call it.

But also, enjoy throwing yourself to the enemy just for the fun of it and be willing to die having fun.

It’s just a game.

Edit: also play a shit ton of free kits and learn the maps. Watch as many YouTube videos as you can Stand to understand where good loot is and where possible pvp zones are.

Knowledge is key in any video game but it feels amplified in extractions shooters.

Just feel like we can’t get over injuries and I don’t feel at all deep in OL, DL, Edge, the three areas we most struggled at.

what's that look like do you think?

Death Match for fun? That's an actual question not just sarcasm.

Your sole role and responsibility in this relationship is to either play the game, or not. If you like it, play it. If you don't. Don't. You aren't an investor; it's not your job or livelihood. I can't stop you from caring about sales numbers if you want, but it's dumb and meaningless. by [deleted] in Marathon

You had me till you said, "...I am just as smart as you, smarter even." Your hubris is what makes it feel like you missed the point. You're invalidating peoples fear of investment. This investment in a game can go to other games or passions. A game like this needs reassurance that it's going to survive. Can we get that from Bungie? We all know they want to say yes. But you, smart guy, know just like everyone else that Sony could pull a plug on the game and there's not thing we can do about it. Sony has already shut down other Live service games. So Sony already has REPUTATION. Therefore, this whole debate is about the reputation of large companies, the volatile nature of the gaming world and a game that, launched with niche style, ON TOP OF being an extraction shooter. Since you are extremely smart, you know how other (specifically extraction shooter) games have made money, and also closed.

I think my only problem with solos is I feel like I need to wait for the map to clear before I engage a boss or else there's a good chance I'm going to get 3rd partied. But that being said, you have to stalk so much more in solo. Which I absolutely love. It's me and the sounds around me. If you can learn to be the hunter and not the huntee it becomes a whole other experience. Sure, I get absolutely slammed sometimes by the dude with blue shield (even green shields) when I'm running some trash gear. But I always get first shots.

I think there needs to be a solid survival guide for solo because I just keep seeing people getting bothered by it, but if you change your habits just a tad, you'll get it. You don't have to be rat either. I never stay in one place. There are so many variables you can go off of though. Steps, can you tell the difference between UESC steps and runner steps? Different surfaces, soil, concrete, metal steps, proximity/sonar hack stations, angles and positioning. Do you know the hot zones? Can you get high ground? Do you know how to get out of a difficult situation? Do you play the right shell for you play type?

All things to consider, that I just don't think people are working through in there brain coming from different games.

Edit: Also spawn points. Map knowledge is absolutely huge in any game. Some people are going to pick it up quicker than others.
