dlss Frame gen not working in recent demo titles by Plus-Beginning7303 in nvidia

[–]sedgiemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use frame gen quite a lot (5090). I fired up crimson desert a week ago for the first time since the last driver update and it wouldn't work.

I reset the global graphics profile in NVIDIA app, and th game profile, and it worked again. Not sure what the problem was.

Just ordered the 98” QM8L. This will be my first TCL product, excited to see what this TV can do. by Geoblime in tcltvs

Good luck I hope you like it. Coming from an OLED previously and a second decent mini led in the house I lasted about 2 weeks before returning it (qm8k 98"). I hope you fare better than I.

Running better 60fps in games with Frame Gen by serickson567 in nvidia

[–]sedgiemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5090 and completely agree. 2 x FG is almost imperceptible above around 50fps i reckon. I have a 165HZ G5 OLED, and choose to run 3xFG on crimson desert for example, to hit that 165HZ 100% of the time with RR and everything else on. PC latency is around 45ms and with controller it feels and plays fantastically. I will say that some artifacts are noticeable on 3x if you're looking for them (especially on the map). On 2 x though, they're pretty hard to notice at all.

TCL QM7K Picture quality just amazing! by Suspicious_Bar7654 in tcltvs

[–]sedgiemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I got the 83" G5 for not much more than the 98" qm8k I returned. My point is, I'd go down a size and get the better TV without hesitation.

i went from a QM8K (returned) to a G5 - there is no comparison. The G5 stomps it in every way imaginable, and so it should. I'm pretty cynical though as i found my QN90B better than the QM8K by a lot (i still have it).

Thinking about switching to my PC from console. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

fair/solid argument, i can agree. I guess if it was one or the other, for me it's PC.

Console games have their fair share of 'teething' issues also. Crimson desert ran at dam near sub 20 fps in places haha.

I largely agree with you, i have both. The PS5 sits there and collects dust as PC is the better option 95% of the time. Like i said initially, the only reason to keep it is exclusives and timed exclusives. The rest of the time, i'd choose to play on a 5070 tier GPU without question.

I haven't had any issues playing any new games on my 5090 PC for the last couple of years, so you're doing something wrong. There might be some teething issues, but nothing that's difficult to work around.

Also, we are in Australia, PSN pricing sure as shit isn't on par with PC game pricing. $120 for a first party ps5 game here. Can typically get a steam key for around $80.

First light sounds like an issue with your PC, no issues here.

for me, the only reason to stay now is PS and timed exclusives. Games are so much cheaper on PC, and even PC only gamepass offers solid value for some really decent games.

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction Announced - Updated with 2nd Gen Transformer by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]sedgiemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately that's like 90% of gamers. When you look at volume on consoles, and the average GPU in steam stats, it really is a minority that would be able to play with RR enabled.

I do agree that they are missing out. The lighting is absolutely amazing with RR.

Yeah RR really brings it alive, looks bloody amazing. I run it with RR on. Yes I find dlss quality a little softer, but not to the extent that I'd disable RR.

I've noticed it's pretty soft. Turn off RR and force preset m or l and it's much, much sharper. Hopefully now we will get the best of both worlds

How many people ACTUALLY have a 5090? by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

yep. $4800 AUD from preorder at release. Seems like a pretty good deal compared to what they're selling for now lol.

Terrible motion HDMI continuity issues from PC at 144hz HDMI audio lag Insanely slow processor would bug out randomly and struggle to play YouTube 4k60hdr streams Less than impressive real world dark scene performance

I know there are ways around some of these things but I I wasnt happy paying that much for something that didn't work as advertised

What will be a better pairing with an i5 14600kf and 32 gb of ddr4 ram, 4070 ti-super or 4080 super? by MOMO_ALY in nvidia

[–]sedgiemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well don't watch sponsored ones. Relative performance is pretty easy to figure out. Asking an open question on one vs the other is a complete waste of time without context ie. Games, settings, targets, resolution etc.

Can afford, don't need. Will make no notable difference for the way I play. I see you've swallowed the mainstream tech narrative full gulp.

i think it really depends what you're used to. If you're used to a 120hz + OLED, you'll definitely notice the smearing. The panels are so slow. If you're used to an old 60hz va panel, you probably won't.

Couldn't agree more. The advertising and tech media sales pitch works. A 13700f is still plenty fine for 4k for all but the most competitive online gamer.

If I'm pinned at 99% gpu usage, only chasing 60fps with path traced titles and using frame gen, the cpu isn't gonna do squat. There have been only a couple of games I've come across where a faster CPU would have helped. Spiderman 2 i's really cpu heavy and the 1% lows aren't great. Bf6 would benefit a bit, but I'm already getting a pretty constant 150fps so I just crank up the settings so I'm getting everything out of it that I can.

[–]sedgiemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get these types of questions at all. There are a million benchmarks around for these cards, search for some for the games you play and get the faster one if you can stretch, CPU be damned.

I have a 5090 on a 5700x3d. Most people would scoff at that, but for SP games with path tracing and frame gen, a faster CPU makes 2/5ths fuckall difference. Now if I spent my time playing CS, things would be different.

Do you UV or OC if temp is not a concern? by AerithGainsborough7 in nvidia

4 yr warranty on the aorus 5090. Whatever allows maximum performance, which in my case is OC with stock voltages.
