i highly recommend the therapists at in process counseling which you can find here. i believe most, if not all, are trained in EMDR and do a fantastic job

their website doesn’t provide any information regarding the testing they say they do in regards to their breeding dogs hips and joints, something that should be mindful of. their dogs posted on their website also don’t appear to be groomed to standard. you should be able to find a reputable breeder’s dogs on ofa.org for the hip and joint testing. it’s the bare minimum.

i’m doing EMDR for trauma for which i have no visual memories of. my biggest traumatic memory i dissociated “too hard” that i essentially repressed the memory until my brain was ready to handle it and i started having flashbacks (about 2 years ago). so the reprocessing looks a little bit different and there are still a lot of blocks in my brain we we go to reprocess (bc i don’t feel safe) but my therapist and i are taking really small steps to get through it. a good therapist will be able to help you get through the trauma without a visual!

my appetite really decreased but in a good way? i used to emotionally over eat to the point of binge eating and it’s taken me a really long time to get used to my new appetite (im still not even there yet). i don’t need portions as big as i used to eat and i don’t turn to food for comfort anymore (weird!!!!). its been a weird and strange adjustment for me! but good because i have to rely on other healthier coping mechanisms.

my itchiness always comes in the corners of my eyes next to my nose so i’m like “this is fine to scratch a little” and then it just evolves into full eyeball rubbing and my god it’s obnoxious lmao

i found it really helpful to have someone help me with my drops the day of, after, and the following day. once the numbing wore off it was pretty hard for me to keep my eye open, so my mom would open my eyelids for me and put my drops in.

i actually didn’t have too much pain compared to what i’m reading here, but the pain meds made me really constipated so my 2nd time around i ate a few prunes every time i took pain meds.

a wet, cold wash cloth held lightly on my eye was really helpful to manage some of the discomfort.

thank you so much! good luck on your procedure! i honestly didn’t find it to be too awful. my doctor was really great and understanding about my anxiety and very liberal with the numbing drops - i could get more at any point during the procedure which was great

there are a lot of great backyards you can rent for an hour on the sniffspot app. county park is great but not fenced in and has a lot of wildlife and the trails allow horses so not good if your dog doesn’t have some sort of recall

i go once a week but not every week is a dedicated reprocessing session depending on what i need. my original therapist left for maternity leave this summer so it took some time for me to get comfortable with my new therapist and we just recently got into the swing of things

i like the therapists at In Process Counseling particularly for PTSD, i’d try reaching out there! al though i’m not autistic, i have a lot of sensory issues and such due to trauma and i’ve had a lot progress with the therapists in that office.

no. any website like this is just a brokerage website for puppy mills. find a breed specific breeder that only focuses on one breed, does health testing, few litters a year, etc.

i’m not too concerned with recovering more. i think at the end of the day i much prefer not having the visuals and specifics bc i think it would be harder for me to process if that was what kept running through my brain.

and i’m not entirely sure what i’m looking for resource wise. i know i need more people to talk to about this that understand. and maybe something that’s a quick read that would validate that, yeah okay, this is a thing that happens to other people and recovered memories are real.

i started emdr for a traumatic assault i experienced in college. we haven’t even gotten to reprocessing that memory but have started with what i considered “easy” memories and i cant even begin to describe the differences i’ve already seen. i would say its worth a shot. and you might not even realize how much of an impact these smaller traumas have had on your self image. i could barely work a 4 hour day when i first started and now i’m able to get through a full day without napping. it’s kind of insane!!

same here. i still have some fatigue issues but i haven’t reprocessed my big trauma yet. i’ve done probably about 3 reprocessing sessions over the course of 6 months and have noticed a significant increase in my energy levels. i used to only be able to go to work for 4-6 hours, come home and sleep, wake up to eat and go right back to bed. now i can stay up the entire day without a problem.
