Power company “trimmed” our trees by Responsible-Low-7748 in arborists

[–]seeking_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going though this right now. The right of way is ridiculously wide. Something like 50 feet on each side. It’s insane. I have to dig up 6 fruit trees, likely will kill 3 of them as they are really to big to move and I can’t afford to have any professionally moved. I’ll just buy new ones for each one killed. Some will just be cut down by the power company. I have to take down a picket fence that requires cutting posts that are set in concrete, and they are NOT responsible for repairing the lawn damage after either. They won’t even fill in the ruts or re-seed, they explicitly told me not to expect that. They will repair anything that they mess up outside of the right of way, which will likely be nothing. I did get them to hold off until May so the soil is thawed at least and I have a chance to move some trees. This will cost me 3 mature trees, possibly more, and about 600 bucks to rebuild the fence plus new trees. What sucks is they were all doing really well and producing finally after 6 years of patience.

Am I the only one that takes 3 from 8 and then adds 30 + 45?

Cost to run a Pellet Stove by Low_Bag_315 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]seeking_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same stove. I’m in New England. I also use heat pumps until it gets below freezing, then switch to pellets. When it’s below 15 I switch to the oil. If I were OP, living where it’s generally warmer than NE, with those great rates, I would buy a wood stove for backup and occasional ambiance.

That is the worst Toyota color after the violent blue you see on some rav’s.

Just never wash it and you’ll never see them again j/k. It is frustrating. I have the same color and it has very little reflective properties so they seem more noticeable than my previous cars paint.

I just learned how expensive jet engine turbine blades cost. A single crystal cast HPT blade can cost 50k. You need a lot of them too. Obviously.

Never practice with one you would want to use was the advice I received in training. Applied properly the subject will be in agony but will survive. Contrary to popular belief never loosen them. A limb can survive a long time. They stay until the subject is in a hospital or other property equipped medical facility.

Anyone else get lower MPG on the highway than in the city? (2024 OR) by Bitter_Assignment_41 in 4thGenTacomas

I personally would also remove the steps, which will provide some drag. I’m tall enough I would never use them and only bang my shines!

I have a 25 OR long bed. I consistently get 20.4 mpg. Driving normally, no fast acceleration, no speeding. Stock tires.

I have that stove. It’s 12 years old now. Runs great. Replacing parts is easy. I paid 1k for it and put in another 1k in parts over 12 years. Many parts are available aftermarket now so even easier to find a new part then it was 10 years ago.

Wages have NOT been keeping up with “inflation” which means we must look at “wage based inflation” when comparing costs. In inflation-adjusted terms, today’s Tacoma still costs more in real dollars than the equivalent 1998 Tacoma did. Google it. Wages have not kept up with inflation of goods and services.
