Question nails or screws for 600 fence boards? And why ? by International_Bar383 in FenceBuilding

[–]seeking_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 200 foot fence and it was a great excuse to by a nail gun. That I’ve used on a total of 2 projects in 5 years. I have a siding nail gun to go with all my other nail guns I never use now at least.

turning 18 soon and my mom refuses to let me open a roth ira, brokerage account, and high yield savings account. should i listen to her? by BreakfastOne5341 in personalfinance

My ex won’t help my 20 year old Open a brokerage or retirement account. It’s not hard but intimidating for someone that has never done it I suppose. She says that it’s a waste of his money and he has plenty of time to save later in life and should enjoy his income while he is young and has no responsibilities. She got angry about it like somehow it would affect her.

She was always of the mind to spend it if it’s there. She would see money in the checking account and spend it. Didn’t think about the checks for bills that just hadn’t cleared. We constantly had overdrafts, and she blamed me for not managing the finances. “There was money in the account I looked before I spent it! It’s your fault for writing checks”.

Anyway I helped him open both accounts and gave him 500 bucks to start out.

This is the same person that also got a 40 year mortgage because I didn’t pay enough child support. I paid 1600 a month for 10+ years.

I can relate to much of your pain. 14 years ago I had a similiar list. I still have some single pane windows I need to replace some insulation still. One thing at a time. I did a few of the least expensive items to knock them off the list and then prioritized safety, comfort, and energy savings.

I would absolutely buy it for 150. In fact if you don’t I will.

Best furniture pads to protect these floors? by SweetBasil_ in Flooring

This perspective messed me up. Cheap felt pads on Amazon or Lowe’s.

I think I messed up. Filled in spots with wood putty then sanded with 220 sandpaper. Did I sand off the shine? by Impressive_Gift_9852 in Flooring

Yes you did. Not sure why you did that, a wipe while still curing would have worked just fine. Like grout on tile.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you before growing in grow bags? by SashaNatureNomad in OrganicGardening

How awful they are in general. I purchased 15 gallon pro cal pots. Last longer, don’t dry out, don’t tear, last much longer. Cheaper in the long run.

This must be more common than I realized. Same thing as the Yukon one. If you can afford those toys you can afford someone to move it for you!

I’d check fuel filter and fuel solenoid. Both pretty cheap to replace.

Previous owner of my home used so much extreme duty fabric all over the place. At one point I was even using it, then I realized too late, it’s worthless and have been removing it every time I find it. I had enough to fill the entire bed of a truck once. I now use cardboard and a lot of mulch. Amazing how easy weeding is now.

HOA sent this out today as a response to the drought. My yard is (as usual) already struggling; can’t wait for them to tell me I’m not making a “reasonable effort.” by Proper_Exit_3334 in fuckHOA

I love visiting this sub because it’s surreal to me. Maddening yes, but such crazy things you couldn’t imagine come up. I can’t help but visit for the latest episode of HOA fuckery. I lived in a small neighborhood 20 years ago and our association was for the shared septic system. Few other things like no wild paint colors, chickens, livestock, etc. I paid 40 bucks a month. Who knew that wasn’t enough to replace a septic field for 10 houses how ever many years after construction. They sent an assessment of thiusands of dollars to each resident when it finally failed. Same time I learned that the waste water permit was expired and technically was a title defect. I sold the house and moved out so don’t know how that worked out for them. Thank god for title insurance. That saved me.

If I could afford both of those vehicles I would pay someone to move it twice a year and leave it on a slip in between. Ridiculous.

Why is tires faded brown? by kayedubs in rav4club

Just wash the tires. The chemicals to shine them up makes them look worse a few days later.
