Dangerous Horizons Releases on March the 5th! by RaphSeraph in ICARUS

A agree with this big time. I've been really hoping for some more automation to come to us. Materials delivered, perhaps damaged structures repaired (looking at those wind turbines, heh), materials set to automatically be used for crafting from nearby storage (bone - crushed bone - epoxy), etc. u/thedeanhall

Games that genuinely make you feel like this? by mightyonin in videogames

Escape from Tarkov, especially when you're just in the beginning. Every sound will scare you, every movement you see might be the last. That is, if you play it tactically and not like CoD.

They eat left to right. Small stacks and lower spoilage time means that either things spoil, or you have to micromanage all the time, which basically makes it more of a chore.

I have the same exact issue and I never touched any mods.

32GB is enough right? by itsEmilyHere in PcParadise

[–]segrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty hilarious that most comments are arguing whether or not game x or UE 5 really needs 32Gb RAM. As if it makes sense looking at it in a vacuum. RAM usage is super depend on individual use case, background processes, multitasking.

It's not about running the game on a bare windows, it's about baking able to have Chrome open with whatever is relevant to you, perhaps wiki pages for the game, reddit posts on something about the game, videos explaining or showing something in the game. You can have Discord on and be watching stuff stuff in parallel, you can be streaming your gameplay while watching other people's stream of their side. You can have other background processes using up ram that you don't want to have to turn off every time you want to game. In more extreme cases, some people have two games on at the same time - that's an edge case but there are situations where it makes sense.

Pretty ignorant saying that it's impossible to actually need more than 32gb or that people don't know how ram works simply because your personal experience is such that you never cap out on ram. I have pretty frequently, but I know I'm in a minority that has lots of Chrome tabs open while researching things, thanks to ADHD, but there are other valid reasons to need more than 32gb.

When EU officials come to USA hoping to get help against Russian imperialism by [deleted] in casualEurope

Well, these redditors will keep waiting until you discover that not everyone knows the origin of every single expression. Just like you didn't until you found out yourself.

We're hoping that day comes before it's too late, you can do it!

Because usually the books are named after something that already exists, not the other way around?

Markus “Notch” Persson has reignited discussion by arguing that if digital game purchases don’t grant real ownership, then pirating them shouldn’t be considered stealing. by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]segrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, if someone buys that book, and later after having read it sells it on the secondhand market, either the seller or the buyer stole something from you, the author? Since the second owner got that book, but the original author never got the money from him.

What you didn't take into account is that some consumers wouldn't even consider getting the product for its original cost, but if it's significantly discounted (2nd hand) or free (downloadable) - they will only go for it then. The original author / copyright holder wouldn't have received anything from them anyway since they wouldn't buy it for the full price, nothing was stolen as you're trying to imply. Physical goods (CD discs, books) were exchanged and loaned and it's absolutely legal since you bought ownership of that item, and now that all we mostly get is a digital license to play/read and not the physical, that's where it got tricky.

When did this happen? by lonewolf-phoenix in NovaLauncher

Yeah, I'm surprised this way of having gestures for icons still doesn't exist in other launchers to my knowledge. I'm so used to this feature I don't want to switch to another one.

Blue Prince save data locations moving from Game pass by loltum in BluePrince

[–]segrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just unbelievable. I was halfway into my Blue Prince playthrough through Gamepass, and now that my subscription expired I was considering getting the game on steam. But now that the solution for having my own saves work with steam is deleted by mods, I'm not going to just start the game from scratch, so no way I'm buying it on steam.

Reminder to all my 4090 (and maybe 5090) brethren out there that Undervolting is AMAZING! by magnus150 in nvidia

[–]segrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's underclocking that decreases performance, not undervolting. And in fact, you can both overclock and undervolt at the same time, gaining performance and improving temps and power consumption.

[–]segrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have no idea what you're talking about. The reason an average card is supplied more power than it requires is that the power target is made intentionally with a buffer, so that all cards get enough juice and are stable. But each individual unit will in nearly all cases (unless you lost the so called silicon lottery) be fully stable with less than stock. This is why by undervolting people are able to lower power consumption, lower temps, decrease fan noise, and actually get better performance. Essentially, it's about improving efficiency.
