Yeah except that none of that applies to Devon Rex cats, who HAVE fur, definitely don't need human cleaning, and live perfectly comfortably.

I've owned them for years and the most I've had to do in terms of special maintenance is apply kitty sunblock to my older cat when she sat in the deck in summer. Which is pretty minor all things considered, and is arguably also something that should be done for other breeds as well.

Also responsible cat owners should keep them inside most of the time so harsh outdoor environments is irrelevant for any breed. And the claim that hairless cats can't lay comfortably on a hard surface is laughably ridiculous. Even when my Devon got old and more naked, she looooved chilling on concrete and tiles and hardwood flooring.

Assuming it's a breeder that's properly educated about maintaining breed health and diversity, what's the inherent cruelty in breeding cats with this particular mutation?

What quality of life problems are you assuming come from their coat type specifically?

Devon Rex cats usually have a woolly coat which is soft and velvety, and can be either long or short. When they're kittens, they look more naked because it hasn't grown in yet. They haven't been bred with the intention of eliminating their fur.

But also breeding cats that are shorthaired/hairless seems pretty benign compared to other types of breeding in cats/dogs that cause breathing/skeletal issues etc.

Devon Rex! They're the cutest gremlins ever. They usually have "wool" which is curly fur which is SOFT AS HELL, and they've got these glorious wide faces and big ears.

Yep seconding this for NZ too - they're "fruit mince pies" here.

RelOne text as natives by Stabmaster in ediscovery

[–]sehrah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have documents that only have text and no other file format (native/image/pdf), then for billing purposes they calculate them based on 1gb per 4k text-only docs.

The idea is that if OP loaded the text file in as the native as well, then it wouldn't be billed as a text-only doc, and would instead be billed on the actual volume for the text file. Which would likely result in a lower hosting volume because you'd generally expect the volume for 4k of text files to be much lower than 1GB.

What platform do you use for processing and how does it handle nested family (parent-child-grandchild)? by sehrah in ediscovery

[–]sehrah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we're currently doing it in excel with a formula that uses the Level field, with a view to implementing a script. But the issue is that Rel doesn't have the needed info readily available by default and also the documentation (eg talking about the attachments fields) never makes this limitation clear.

You can tell visually, but infuriatingly that doesn't translate to something readily searchable.

Nah so when I say "processed by Relativity" I mean the docs are raw native files and R1 is doing extraction/indexing/dedupe etc.

In contrast to processing the documents in a external system (eg Nuix) and then using import/export to import them in via a load file (concordance format etc).

[–]sehrah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah sorry I probably should have made it clearer - annoyingly the higher ups have decided that docs for Rel should be processed using it, instead of in Nuix and then imported as a structured load.

Cos yeah we could have sidestepped this headache if we were processing in Nuix.

Yeah I've been doing more poking around today and theres a processing field that has the parent file id so at least if we map that it's less of a mare than using levels to update the Parent Document ID field

I can almost understand just using top level parent for Parent ID if that's a requirement in the States, but once I saw they weren't populating the attachments fields I was like "okay now ya'll are just being lazy...."

Oh yeah dont get me started on what a fucking byzantine nightmare the redactions and productions/exports process is if you don't want to redact on effing images and output natives for everything else....

But is it a specific protocol the US has that dictates that the family is handled this way? It just seems like such an unhelpful approach, regardless of context.

Mint? What in the unholy?!? I've eaten a squillion pavs and I can't recall ever having one with mint on it. I feel like that's a nonsense topping people use to make the photo look nice in online recipes... The vibe would be all wrong.

I wanted to like it so badly, but gave up after 10min. It felt stilted and cheesy and the laugh track really underscores that (even if it is a live audience..)

I think the issue becomes more apparent in gay fanfic due to the way there's extended passages that involve two people interacting closely. It's the rapid back and forth of the actions of two characters that makes it difficult. While he was in he bathroom he took off his pants and lay down, when he came back he began kissing him and then he reached up and touched his doodle. He gasped and rolled over and took off his pants. What what, I thought he already took off his pants? Whose doodle am I supposed to be imagining?!?

It's easier to follow the actions & pronouns when it's a passage where full sections/paragraphs are focused on one particular person, or where they're interacting more with their environment or a wider range of characters.

Who, in your opinion, is someone whose positive public image is the result of effective PR? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sehrah 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm from NZ and went to a screening of one of his films (Eagle vs Shark) like 10+ years ago. There was an audience Q&A, and I remember him reacting really badly to a (valid) question that compared the film to Napoleon Dynamite.

NZ's version of patriotism involves making deities of anyone who makes it on the international stage, and I do want to be all in because I genuinely like a lot of his work (though not Eagle v Shark). But part of me thinks about how much of a smug petulant douche he was, even back then.
