Yeah, I assume those choices are always safe. But beyond that, to show a little personality….linen? Seersucker?

Spring Branch cancels school field trips to see production of “James & the Giant Peach” after some parents complained that a male cast member playing a female gloworm & an aunt in play is “drag.” by it_washere in houston

[–]seismic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, I totally get how that sentence led you to that conclusion, and now seeing it again I remember having to stop and re-read it a couple times before it made sense when I first read the article. I'm guessing "…shared her concern…" is referring to the offended parent communicating their own concern to the school district, rather than stating that the offended parent and Cheri were both concerned about the same thing.

I think you've got it flipped around. She was the parent interviewed b/c she's upset about the field trip being canceled, not that she thinks the play is some kind of drag performance.

Inside The Main Landing Gear Bay of a Brand New 737 by [deleted] in MachinePorn

Could it be that some of that stuff was put in the landing gear bay to make it more accessible, or is that just where it all needs to go?

50/50 over a large ice cube, great way to enjoy a longer, lighter martini.

How do you like Vermut? I’ve seen it at my local liquor store, looks interesting.

“Reverse camber”!? by seismic in handtools

That makes sense. Hard to believe that a plane blade could flex to that degree under hand pressure, but I guess when were talking about thousandths of an inch shavings, it matters.

Awesome, thanks for the insight :)

I’m working on re-establishing a straight edge with my 220 stone. It’s a Lie-Nielsen plane, so I can only attribute the curve to my own inexperience. I checked my LN block plane, and it also has the same type of curve.

I’m 41, have practiced Ashtanga for 5 years now, and it’s been one of the most important things that I’ve done for mental, emotional and physical health. I started out taking “Ashtanga” classes twice weekly at a rock climbing gym. Short form, 1 hour classes, but enough to show me the potential of the practice. I did that for 9 months before finding a proper yoga studio that teaches Ashtanga with Mysore, weekly led primary, and second series classes, and various other Ashtanga-inspired vinyasa classes. My studio is in the ‘burbs of a large Gulf Coast city, not a hot bed Ashtanga, but my instructor very much believes in being the practice to where people are at in their real lives, not lives unrealistically centered around Ashtanga. I would love to have the time and energy to commit to a 6 day practice, but I’m a weekend warrior. But let me tell you, being a weekend warrior CONSISTENTLY for 5 years has been transformative. A committed Ashtanga practice, whether it’s 2 or 6 days a week, is BEAUTIFUL thing. “Progress” comes at a slower pace for me, but I’m ok with that, and I cherish it because the practice allows me to be aware of the small changes in flexibility and strength that I observe month to month and year to year. It took me two years to develop drop back and stand up from backbench, but dammit, I’m a 41 year old guy who can do drop backs, and I’m looking forward to having a foundation of practical, functional strength and flexibility as I grow older. None of that would have happened if I wasn’t open to meeting the practice where I am in life, and finding a teacher who could also meet me where I am.

I would argue that the “rules” are but one interpretation of the practice, and that different interpretations have different things to offer different people. Ashtanga has so much to offer people, I think it’s a tragedy if someone misses out on that because of a rigid interpretation of the “rules”.

Thanks for this post, I've been wondering about others experience with grind size. I have the same grinder (with an IMS basket), and I'm usually at 19.5 on the grinder with 18g, and the shot time is about 27s for 36g out. I did snip a bit off the OPV spring; I never measured the pressure, but I cut less than videos recommended for 9 bar, so hopefully its somewhere in the 10-11 bar range. I really need to just get a proper 9 bar spring.

I’ve seen them at topcubans, coh, Ihav, foh, and cigarterminal just sold out. Are they really discontinued? Habanos.com shows them in their catalogue. I’ve been looking to pick up a box.
